The question I’ve wondered for awhile now: to what extent does all the energy we expend on defense affect us on offense?
Certainly not arguing that, and again I think they are bubble at best… I just don’t want to discount how well we are playing defensively both from a scheme and execution standpoint tonight
This may well be why there is a renewed push to find some more depth on this team.
By my count 4 buckets are after OREBs
Honestly minus the last few minutes, another half of really good offense but you have to make shots
Coffey with the incredibly impressive bagel half of 0-10. That’s hard to do.
Michigan with more combined blocks (4) and steals (5) than Minnesota field goals (8).
But the Wolverines only scored .83 points per possession in the first half. Offense just hasn’t been able to pull away from teams lately.
Box score has 8 second chance points for Minny.
Last night Carolina didn’t play any defense and Duke shot like shit. So, I’m of the mindset that our defense has nothing to do with our shoddy shooting. And I’m with Dylan that starters should be able to play 30-35 minutes a game at this point in the season, so fatigue is not the cause.
Edit: Carolina had a lot of steals in open court - defense was decent. I am specifically referring to awful outside shooting.
I think it’s a valid point, but could be muted a bit if we were better in transition
Look at me knowing how to count good
Minnesota was 1-of-18 on jump shots and 7-of-18 at the rim.
Michigan was 5-of-19 on jump shots and 6-of-12 at the rim.
Yeah, doesn’t explain the transition problems. But maybe the 3pt% a bit? I don’t know.
Glad to have the good start–Michigan generally does well when it can sit on a lead and piece together baskets.
But, man, the offense turned ugly there late. Iggy is totally lost attacking the basket now. He’s hitting stuff deep, but that transition move was ugggggggggly.
And Teske just can’t hit anything all of a sudden.
I heard before the game that Murphy is second all time in big ten for rebounds?
Oturu and Murphy with 10 boards each.
I actually agree with you, I think it affects us a little it once were set in the half-court offense… But we could mitigate that to a winning formula if we just scored in transition LOL
That is nuts. And I don’t even think we’ve done that badly on the glass. There’s just been a ton of opportunities.
Oturu on pace for the coveted 20-20-lose-by-20 line.
Aka the Kevin Love w/ T-Wolves stat line
