My (completely unprovable) theory is that this team with Zavier Simpson has 2-3 losses and is contending with PU for the B1G title.

Iām not there on the make or break statement but this has been a strange season on a lot of fronts. The team is down but his decisions have been suspect.
Frustratingā¦no other words.
What value is our vaunted assistant coaching staff bringing? Recruiting? I would give them a pass on that. Weāre generally getting 4* talent.
Coaching offense and defense and individual player developmentā¦. Not great? All of the above not great? I get that Martelli is there for mentorship so I donāt expect much past that.
Saadi and Howard Eisley I thought were at or near top of their profession-level. Sure arenāt showing it 
Atleast bring me back Billy Donlon, that dude coached up some defense!

I think it comes back to fundamentals. Nearly everyone is getting hung up on screens. Consistently getting beat off the dribble. No scheme can solve these issues.
I think thatās why theyāve been trying more zone, but our communication and box out has been too inconsistent to actually close out possessions playing zone.

Thereās no communication on D. I know that fans will always, and deservedly, put that on the coaching staff. The reality is that some teams are selfish and the message from coaches never sinks in. Doesnāt matter if itās Phil Jackson, John Beilein, Chuck Daly, Juwan, or Norman Dale delivering the message.
I have a ton of negative thoughts that mirror much of what is being shared here. And I agree that big picture there are some serious issues that need to be addressed.
But in the context of this game PSU made great use of their long prep. Their game plan was outstanding and I shudder to think of what this would have looked like without Jett going nuts to keep us in it the first 12 minutes.
I also think a lot of fingers can be pointed at Hunter but in fairness to him in the context of this game he did work his tail off against Edey about 48 hours ago and that had to have effected him today.

Hot take. Penn st makes the tourney and has a real shot to go deeper than any team outside of Purdue in the big ten.
They could be a hassle in the right bracket

Do you need long prep to prepare for this Michigan team? Itās so simple to prep for. Put Hunter in PnR conflict. The underpants gnomes could prep a win.
Is State College a NCAA tourney site?
I donāt disagree though. Veteran team with a good coach (maybe looking for the next gig???) that can get hot from 3. Iād hate to see them as a 10/11/12 seed.
He did hold (checks notes) Michael Henn to 100% shooting today. In fairness, thatās really impressive.
Hunters d wasnāt amazing in that game but he did some of the things we saw the first couple years that helped him be less of a liability.
Crafty little tips on post entries, pulling the chair etc.
I feel like his passing has regressed too. His poor d was outweighed by elite offensive and great vision and decision making.
He just hasnāt had it this year, not at the level this team needs.

No but they didnāt guard Dug and TWill at the beginning and we couldnāt run anything or get Hunter going. We never got comfortable on either end and I do think you have to tip your hat to what they had schemed up.

I agree. Iām just salty and the vast majority of my comments are hyperbolic joking. Sarcasm and ridiculousness is how I deal with this team.

I donāt think many teams are going to be ready for a PG that posts them like Ewing and is also surrounded by shooters.
Every game that goes by, starting to think that āBorn on 3rd base and think they hit a tripleā thing isnāt just applying to Ryan Day anymore.
