Very happy to see him bounce back after last game, when I’m sure he was down about his mistakes that led to OT.
I won’t defend it as great effort, but there was a reason he was on the other side of the rim and not trying to, for example, get to the other side of the rim to box him out. I’m giving my side-eye instead to whoever was guarding Beran on the perimeter didn’t try to beat him to the rim.
I understand not trying to get to the other side to box out, but try to get the GD ball. It’s crunch time and you have to try and seal the win.
There’s been a lot to criticize on coaching, including today, but the big man developer reputation is well-deserved. The growth of Tarris week-by-week has been really really impressive, credit to both player and coach. He’s so intriguing now
Just looked at the box score and what stood out is how we won despite 18 turnovers(!)
A huge edge in rebounding (thank you Tarris), and 3-point shooting (over 45%).
I only partially followed but glad they picked up the W. Got dodgy for a second but pushed through. Now need to build on momentum and keep getting Ws
Now he has to start re-developing Hunter lol
Is it too soon for a Tarris HD starting front court? I am all in on that with Jett at the 3.
Yeah, but it’s probably not going away in-game.
It’s time to give Tschetter 35 mins a game apparently.
my one knock on hunter is that he needs to be in killer mode in every game. they need to work with him holding the ball low for the guards getting their hands on it. i don’t remember it being a problem before but i’ve noticed it in the last 3 games.
Didn’t see the game but assuming I can credit Tschetter for the victory
Perhaps right around the corner? Tarris might soon become too good to keep off the floor!
Today was the first day in his journey to becoming the next Nowitzki
It’s very nice to get a win against a pretty good team, as well as winning a fairly close game.
I’m also happy to see the improvements with our freshman, including Red-shirt Cheddar.
I know not starting would be viewed as a demotion but I really think to get the most out of TWill we have to look at bringing him off the bench. He is still a valuable piece and having him in a role similar to last year is where he is best suited.
I know there aren’t any great options to replace him as a starter but Baker/Tschetter/Reed all at least seem plausible.
Dug - 30
Kobe - 35
Jett - 30
Hunter - 32
TWill - 20
Baker - 18
Reed - 20
Tschetter - 15
Jace - 0
I don’t think you can give Reed more than that because there are still issues on both ends with the dual center look.
I see that the usual negativity prevails here, even after a win. Why I come here less and less.
Every time we win it just makes the Iowa game hurt even more
I think there are different types of negativity…not that it is ever fun to listen to from fans.
- Negative all the time unless the team is blowing everyone out. (OSU football fans can be like this sometimes)
- Negative because your team isn’t good so there’s nothing to be positive about.
- Negative because your team is under performing.
We are in that third category. There is no reason why this team with Hunter, Jett, Kobe and all of the solid recruits shouldn’t have won the Iowa, CMU, and at least one of the blue blood games. Put us at 5-1 in the league with no bad losses and one good NC win? We might even be ranked.
Hence the frustration and negativity.
Frustrating to think where they’d be if they were just two possessions better in every game.
