I think it’s clear that opposing teams have figured this offense out and have found ways to force X into bad spots. Johns and Franz playing well is nice but if X is solvable, this team isn’t top 15 caliber

Decent nonconference but not great like it looked 2 weeks ago. Top 25 team more than a top 10 team. Not good to lose home games when this team hasn’t shown any ability on the road

And that will be the case until Simpson stops acting like he’s more than a distributor. We have four decent scoring options besides him, he needs to dial it back.
Team is looking like a 5/6 seed come March, which is fine. As long as Juwan bags a sick recruiting class, which I’m still highly skeptical of.
I’m looking forward to the days that Michigan has a shooting PG again. Getting tired of losing games b/c Z gets owned on offense and does stupid shit resulting in turnovers and blocks.

I’d almost rather have been blown out than do all the hard work to come back and lose it at the buzzer.
Got to win at home. Can’t get down so big early at home. Inexcusable with a team with Teske and Simpson as the leaders.
Make our layups/dunks. I can tolerate turnovers when we are trying to do something, but Simpson’s turnovers were all completely unforced errors. Very annoying from your senior bulldog.

I would have liked to seen an adjustment to Pritchard getting buckets at will in the paint. They dug out of a hole though.

That free throw violation in the first half and Franz having his foot on the line for that three were huge.

The issue isn’t that he can’t shoot. The issue is that he and DDJ are the only players that can penetrate at all. Franz can attack close outs, but that’s about it right now. Brooks and Livers cannot create for themselves or others.
If we had one other good playmaker, nobody would care that Simpson can’t shoot.

Simpson would be so much better if he added a floated to his game. It’s easy to guard him because he’s so predictable. The hook shot hasn’t fallen much this year. He’s a terrific player but he had arguably his worst game

Yeah. There’s enough film now, presumably. Another solution to this is to start playing like we need to win every single damn defensive possession, because the offense has a ceiling. Maybe it’s time to burrow into that hang-your-hat-on-defense mentality in which everybody knows that they just can’t afford a single missed assignment.
Delighted with what Johns did today. Delighted to see Franz back on track. Delighted to get more confirmation that DDJ can sometimes will the ball into the basket.

This will all get lost because its a game thread but Simpson was 3/11 today with 11 assists. The sooner he/Juwan/everyone else stops pretending like he’s a good scoring option the better we’ll be.
