Ant knows a lot of things (but if you’re asking in relation to Wagner, )
At this point, we all just want out of the family truckster.
Dylan’s response:
It’s 9:00 P.M. in Berlin on the last day of June. School starts in three days. Do you know where Franz Wagner is?
Is it essential for him to take classes summer term?
Not essential but it helps a ton because they also work on conditioning and limited practices.
I’m thinking conditioning isn’t really a problem for Franz
Cardio wise, no but he will probably need to add weight and strength which you can’t do well in season.
Franz doesn’t have to enroll in summer term
No, but I believe he can’t work with the staff for 4 hours a week in the summer unless he has (is this right, Dylan?). While that may not be a huge concern–he has played a ton of basketball this year and may need a break–an inability to work with a new staff during the time some things are installed could have him playing some catch up in the fall.
And if I’m not mistaken, the opportunity just to run up and down, scrimmage, and get to know the rest of the team has value. I think we probably hear pretty soon now.
And if his English is a question mark, summer term is a great opportunity to get better acquainted with the culture & language while campus is quieter and the stress is a little lower.
Again, not a necessity, though.
Article that just came out…cautiously optimistic.
Let’s hope the announcement comes out Monday or Tuesday and Franz is on a plane to Ann Arbor for summer school.
I’m assuming he’d come here in the summer regardless. I was just curious if he needed to take classes.
If he’s not enrolled in classes, then he has to pay his full way to stay in town, including housing. But if he does take classes then he gets scholarship benefits to cover at least most of his expenses?
That would be a good reason to enroll…
Franz Wagner invited to a week long U18 Training Camp with Germany: July 3rd through 8th.
Looks like this group is just for a couple of games this week and is different than the group nominated for U18 Euros which is later in July.
Hate to be nitpicky - you used the term “invited” but does that mean he is actually attending?
My google translate has him as a “nomination” which would make sense in any sitatuation
Good question, I don’t know the answer. Generally speaking, national team camp invitations are just that… sometimes guys don’t show. Rocket Watts didn’t show for USA U19, for example. Probably should have used “nominated” because that’s what the Google Translate shows.
The idiomatic translation would be “selected”. Still, doesn’t necessarily mean they show up, unless the coach has vetted his candidates for attendance.
