I just found it crazy that anyone would even think Franz would wind up like Kelly Olynx. I see Franz similar to maybe Jrue Holiday.

Not so must as to height more to play style and eilte defensively but yeah probably not a great comp couldn’t really think of anyone else off the top of my head

young Batum is really the perfect comp IMO
I disagree with some of things he says but I don’t think questioning him being able to guard NBA SF is far fetched. Who are the SFs he would guard? Kawhi, PG13, Porter Jr, Tatum, Grant, Ingram, Butler, LeBron, I guess you could put Demar in that group as well. Then you have a steep drop off Wagner would probably be able to do well against a Middleton/Hayward/Wiggins.
I guess the question is what type of role and player will Franz be in the NBA?? As of right now he doesn’t hit the 3 very well, he doesn’t have much of an off the dribble game to size guys up and hit jumpers. I think he can drive to the hoop but as far as finishing against bigger and stronger guys might be a question.
Maybe he fits in the role of a D’Andre Hunter/Kevin Huerter ironically both on the same team. Franz has some similarities to those guys, Franz is better defensively than Huerter, both hit the 3s at 36%, not sure Franz can fill it up like Hunter 16ppg though.

The fact that nothing has been announced yet means absolutely nothing to me.
There is almost no chance he doesn’t go pro, in my opinion… but the fact that no announcement is in place is meaningless because (again, my opinion) there is zero chance he does not at least declare and get feedback. So it is, to me, inevitable that some sort of move is coming, and the reason it hasn’t already happened has no bearing on the ultimate decision.

I completely agree with this comparison. Franz reminds me a lot of Olynyk. Other players whose games I think are similar to Franz’ are Marc Gasol, Gordon Hayward, Kevin Love, Ricky Rubio, Manu Ginobli, Larry Bird, so many comps out there.

Im surprised that everyone is so sure he will leave just because he can… Maybe its just an American “grab the money and run” thing, but if I were Franz, Id feel I have a ton to prove at the college level, and an opportunity for a year that he can cherish for the rest of his life (with fans and without covid, to boot) as Im sure Moe can with the F4 run made possible by his unexpected return. The NBA isnt going anywhere, and hes young for a soph-- if he wants to bet on himself, he can actually improve his draft stock by coming back and shooting consistently. Anything could happen, but id put the odds closer to 75/25 to leave than the 99% people seem to assume.

I hate to speculate because I obviously have no idea at all what they’re thinking but I could see that maybe the Wagner’s could be a little jaded by the NBA experience right now with Moe being out of the league for the moment and might collectively think Franz developing for another year could make sense for him considering how young he is for his class…
