Detroit Pistons & NBA Talk

I’m a suns fan and I like Ayton a lot but give me Stewart the next few years on a cheap deal over Ayton at 30 plus mill

Also after reviewing the film more, if I’m the Pistons I find a way to get Sharpe.

Cade
Sharpe
Bey / Grant
Grant / Bagley/ Olynyck (however it’s spelled)
Stewart/ Bagley /O

Has a lot of potential.

In this scenario Stewart makes a lot of sense as a big. It seems like a lot of you aren’t fans of him but patience. He works his ass off and will get there.

A little short yes , but with that roster the size , athleticism, and strength as a lineup will make up for having a shorter big and his style would fit on that team. . You’d need to add a defensive shot blocker off the bench and some bench shooters who you can count on for 15-25 but as a core that is an interesting team.

You forgot about Livers

He tries hard… but he just really handicaps the team… Meh defensively since he can’t rim protect at all. Horrible as a roll man so he really holds back Cade. Not a coincidence that Cade started being awesome up once he started running PnR possessions with an okay rim-runner in Bagley.

Isaiah Stewart is younger than Terrance Williams and Hunter. He’s going to be good. And the type of big you want in the playoffs.

You must not watch games if you think he’s meh defensively. He’s switchable. And his block rate is pretty high (14th best in the NBA.)

That’s wild, i have a new found my appreciation for Isaiah Stewart.

I really hope the Pistons seek a trade with Portland for that number 7 pick by sending Grant their way. We could have a lineup of:

Cade-Ivey-Mathurin-Saddiq-Stewart/Bagley

That would be a great young lineup.

Turns 21 in three days. (Younger than Keegan Murray too.)

In his defense, it worked for Scottie Pippen…

I’d consider putting Jarrett Allen over him too, but it’s close.

Yep. His late season defense was very good. Got switched on the perimeter and held his own. Shot is coming along as well. I expect he’ll have the green light earlier in the season next year. Very optimistic about Stewart’s future.

I’m not as bullish on Stewart as you all are but I will just say I’d much rather give an average, but very mobile center (which I think is a perfectly reasonable expectation here) a $60 million contract than Ayton a $200 million contract.

So Keegan Murray to Pistons is picking up. I’m asking you all, since people are familiar with other B1G players on this forum, is there any chance Keegan Murray ever becomes a plus defender? I swear to god if we pick Keegan Murray…

To me, Keegan Murray would be an acceptable if you already have 2 stars and can give you 3 and D in his role. The problem is the Pistons have too many role players and one star player which is Cade. Unless, Weaver thinks Bey is the 2nd star then we might have a bigger problem in our hands.

My issue with Murray is he’s not a great athlete and doesn’t have the ball handling to be a secondary creator.

Keegan Murray already is a great defender, what do you mean? His stocks numbers have always been elite.

I think Murray can definitely be a good defender (he is one!), and I like him in the lottery, just maybe not where the Pistons are drafting

My outlook on him however is not dissimilar to "Guest"s though. I think he’s a really scaleable 4th starter for a good team (ie, he can slide right into a wing spot for very good teams).

His stocks are good, but how is he as a one on one defender and on the perimeter? Isn’t he the tallest player at Iowa? I just can’t come to terms with a ~22 year old from Iowa being picked 5th in the draft lol

I think this draft has plenty of talent later in the draft that could be just as good or better than Keegan Murray (Mathurin, Sochan, Dieng, Kessler, EJ Liddell (!), Barnham ), I really do think we should trade down if we’re seriously considering Keegan Murray.

I’m very conflicted on Murray. Intriguing skillset, but it’s tough to get over the age thing. Pistons also really need a 2 guard.

I simply don’t get the appeal of Murray when you already have similar but better sf/pfs in Bey, Grant, and Livers.

Well I don’t think Grant is in the long-term plan, and frankly if he’s a Piston at the time they roll the ball rack out, I’ll be disappointed.

Livers is my favorite Michigan player in the modern era, but I’m not ready to let his presence stop me from drafting Murray if I think that’s the guy.

You need 2 good two-way wings to be a good team - they potentially have 1 I feel pretty good about (Bey).

here’s a question, would you draft Keegan Murray over EJ Liddell if you consider that EJ is slightly younger than Keegan?
