Yes, this is a good move on Malone too, players had fully tuned him out and literally the extent of his job was begging guys to play defense while Jokic figured out everything on offense. It was just too much after 9 years. Guy nearly broke his wrist with the emphatic timeout signals multiple times a week

Yea the classy move would be to part ways with Malone in the offseason with dignity but you cant just waste the level that Jokic is at for these playoffs next week if you think a new voice could give them a jolt and a chance, they were completely cooked with Malone rn
Malone isnât the big issue now, the roster is flawed. I donât see how an assistant taking over is going to change anything

They have already given up on this season because their entire relationship with Malone is him begging them to care and they have their heads down and donât, Adelman is also not some joe shmo he can coach too. Agree they arenât winning anything this year anyways.

I think my first reaction is that it is insane for a contending team with a real chance at winning to clean house a week before the playoffs. Just crazy. I guess I can see the argument that if Jokic puts them on his back and drags them to the finals that they couldnât fire everyone then? But what happens if you install a retread interim guy just for the next few weeks and Jokic does that? Then youâre stuck keeping the interim.

Theyâre 10-14 since the all star break, including home losses to Washington and the Spurs (no Jokic so excusable I guess), and have lost 4 straight, I feel like messing with them might be the right call.
Did Malone turn into a much worse coach since the break? Or is he just the guy heâs always been and you couldâve given your new guy a real runway making this move last offseason or at the deadline since you had to have long since figured out who Malone was as a coach.
He definitely hasnât turned into a worse coach, but heâs been so completely tuned out. So same coach but youâre not getting the most out of him. Malone flat out cannot successfully walk into a huddle right now and motivate these guys to guard.
They are screwed, the issue is being to overly loyal to murray and porter +some other crazy extensions not letting bruce and kcp walk.
