Detroit Pistons & NBA Talk

Wizards will have a shot at Cooper Flagg (or Harper) too. It took the Pistons actually becoming horrible so they could get a Cade Cunningham before they could truly start their turnaround.

For the longest time, the Pistons kept winning just enough games to end up with draft picks in the 7-15 range, which makes it very difficult to jump start a rebuild. Wizards are at least so bad that they will have a chance to get a true franchise changer in the draft.

Wizards also have Coulibaly who has shown some promise, Sarr who has played better after a nightmarish start, and Bub Carrington (who knows)

So they already have some lottery tickets.

The picks from 2010 to to 2015:

7
8
9
8
9 (was lost in a trade as it was top 8 protected)
8

This was also the time period where I was most closely following Pistons basketball

If they did, IU could do a lot worse than hiring him.

If Joe D and SVG had made some wiser picks or had better scouting, things couldā€™ve worked out better, even from those draft slots. I donā€™t know how high they were on Giannis (I think he was a consideration) but IIRC they were considering CJ McCollum instead of KCP. There was also Stanley Johnson over home state Devin Booker and Luke Kennard over Donovan Mitchell.
And giving up too early on their one draft steal (Middleton) didnā€™t help, either.

Iā€™ve been wanting a 1 on 1 tournament for decades. Hereā€™s an article on that very topic:

What Would A 2025 NBA All-Star 1-On-1 Tournament Look Like?

The Pistons are a good team. Also, Portland is quietly playing well as of late

Man, some bricks being put up in this 3 point competition.

Mac McClung with an all timer

sorry but Mcclung in the dunk contest again will elicit nothing but a yawn from me

McClung may not be a full NBA player but he is a Full NBA Dunk Contest Dunker. I think this was his best performance to date. Castle was good. Buzelis was meh. The Jackson guy from the Bucks was in over his head.

And Cade didnā€™t embarrass himself in the 3-point competition but that one didnā€™t really deliver this year. Hield was the only one who had an impressive round.

Yeah this happens all the time. If I had a dollar for every time Lebron acted like heā€™d do the dunk contest next year Iā€™d have like 3 or 4 dollars. Also Giannis wouldnā€™t be impressive in the dunk contest?

I think itā€™s kind of clear that Mac and these other guys have relatively different jobs that afford them the time to work on frivolities

If he was going to be an NBA player, ever, heā€™d be one by now because itā€™s hard for him to do more in the G League. He should probably just become a full time YouTuber doing dunks while heā€™s still athletic enough to cash in

Yeah, he even talked about it last night when he won. He thanked everyone for helping him train, for letting him bring cars into gyms to practice, etc. That isnā€™t something a star NBA player is doing on their off day.

Honestly, itā€™s clearly something that depth guys like Andre Jackson and Matas Buzelis donā€™t get to do either
