Detroit Pistons & NBA Talk

Would it though? No matter what, if Luka never accomplishes anything of note in LA and flames out over the next couple of years, couldn’t they have gotten way more for him than they did?

I mean I’m not sure

The brevity of his deal at this point and the fact Luka was clearly not being consulted would have to make any team a little concerned that they wouldn’t keep him

Like you’d rather have him than Anthony Edwards, or Ja Morant or Cade

But those guys are just starting new deals. Would you trade a five year deal of Ant for 18 months of Luka

Like the Mavs should at least have gotten the 2031 first too, no question

But this sort of gets to my main point against doing the trade: “You cannot get fair value for a top 5 player, so never trade one”

I agree with this! But if you have to trade a top-5 player you at minimum have to do your due diligence. This isn’t close to the kind of offer that precludes you from making phone calls. Feels like the most blatant example of organizational malpractice that we’ve seen in a while.

If they only talked to LA, holy crap that’s bad! They must believe he’s not worth the Supermax he’d need after next season, but market economics says they’d get more on the open market. If they didn’t want to pay him, then who cares if the relationship sours?

Trading a top 5 young player will never get a fair return in value. Like what package would the pistons have had to offer to beat the deal? And would the pistons do it. Mavs would demand Cade+ right?

A 127-119 win for the Pistons over the Bulls.

Cade with 22 points and 15 assists.
Duren with 21 points, 13 rebounds, and 4 assists.

The Bulls made a lot of 3’s, which kept it from being a blowout.

Detroit has a winning basketball team, once again. Hopefully, they can get to 2 games over tomorrow night against the Hawks.

And again, Cade just doesn’t get calls. His one FT today was off somebody else’s take foul.

The Pistons schedule is very favorable. I think getting over 40 wins is easily achievable

80 points in the paint yet has fewer FTs than the Bulls. They don’t get favorable whistles from the refs.

I think they’ve already hit the OVER according to Vegas’ pre-season line.

The O/U was 24.5 which I smashed mainly bc Monty isn’t coaching lol

They have done a good job of doing it this season so far. Yes, they lost to bad teams a few times but it’s not common. Beating a couple of good teams happened so they just need to stay the course.

Rods not looking at a relevant group of teams

Bulls (hopefully) will trade out of contention and the Hawks second best player is out for the year, after which they’ve been awful

Pistons got it

Ron Holland gave a big boost. Cade wasn’t shooting well but 15 assists 3 turnovers is fine

Some of those misses could’ve resulted in FT’s.:man_shrugging:

NBA is rigged

I refuse to believe anything that Mavs GM says

My guess is the league is doing bad financially or something so they orchestrated a trade of Luka to LA to drum up interest.

yeah, it’s a shame the Lakers don’t organically generate interest and so have to resort to sideshows and shady dealings

Another big trade:
Fox to Spurs, LaVine to Kings, other teams/players involved per Shams.
