Pistons off to a better start than last year. At this point last year they were 2-6 and in the process of losing 23 straight more games.

They do seem to have leveled up. And they didnā€™t fall apart once the Lakers got it back down to 5 during the 4th. Good W!

Edey pull up 3 szn

Embiid suspended 3 games for shoving reporter.

I have always hoped Edey would find a home in the NBA and Iā€™ll be darned if he isnā€™t evolving his game to do so. I have nothing against the guy despite playing for a different B10 team and Iā€™ll be rooting for him to find a permanent home in the league where so many other true bigs havenā€™t.

I thought people were too low on him. Looks like heā€™s on track to be a Jonas Valunciunas type.

The NBA Podcast That Shall Not Be Named predicted the Pistons would be a play-in team this year (yes, mostly due to a combination of injuries elsewhere and the expectation other teams are going to do their best to bail out of these spots for draft reasons (Bulls and Nets to retain their picks, others just to maximize theirs)

A team like Orlando will be interesting to watch. Comfortably in the playoffs last year with 47 wins but Banchero out indefinitely 0-3 since the injury. They have faced tough teams but havenā€™t really been competitive. Wagner and Suggs canā€™t carry that group imo. They could slide a bit 46 got an 8th seed last year. Should still make the playoffs but if Banchero is out for another month-6 weeks it may not look good.

The win thresholds in the east will be lower than last year, the conference sucks

Teams are still going to win games. Cleveland is going to win more games, I think the Celtics can win another 60+ games. I think the Pistons win more games than last year. Pacers may win fewer if Haliburton continues to struggle but another team from the east will rise. They still have 52 games against their own conference. Philadelphia will win games eventually maybe not as many as last year but still over .500.

Yes, obviously the two good teams will win many games in this awful conference. Just for funs, ESPNā€™s BPI predictions as of today:

  1. Celtics: 60 wins
  2. Cavs: 56
  3. Sixers: 45
  4. Heat: 43
  5. Knicks: 42
  6. Bucks: 39
  7. Pacers: 38
  8. Magic: 38
  9. Bulls: 37
  10. Nets: 36
  11. Hawks: 35
  12. Hornets: 34
  13. Raptors: 32
  14. Pistons: 31
  15. Wizards: 22

Obviously some of that crew from 7 to 14 is going to intentionally steer into the ditch, and that will give some of the others some wins. The point being: they predict the 8 seed threshold to be 8 games worse than last year.

Itā€™s not THAT bad a take but I think talent is still too much of a problem even with the incentives. Like, do we really think the Bulls would resist that temptation?

The temptation to go 1-1 in the playin round again? Never!

Wish I locked in more bets to start season.

Only thing Iā€™m way off on so far is the Jazz and Grizzlies. Should have added more Suns to win the West bets but the odds just kept dropping.

Still risky with those injuries but I feel pretty good on the value.

Knicks under looking like easy money.

So is Bulls/ Nets overs. Just need to pray they donā€™t sell and keep hovering around 500.

Damn, that one hurt :broken_heart:

The Nets are absolutely selling!

Nets are going to tear that thing down to the studs. Gonna challenge the end of year Jazz for G-League starters.

Glenn Robinson III will be getting 32 mpg at the 4

YOUR Pistons now sit 17th in net rating
25th in offense (17th in eFG%, 28th in TO%, 12th in OReb, 25th in free throw rate)
13th in defense (14th in efg% against, 27th in TO% forced, 1st in rebounding, 19th in free throw rate)

So, good: Rebounding (Duren, Stewart, Harris, Holland, Cade pretty good positionally)

Bad: turnovers (Cade bad here, but the two centers are shockingly horrible)
