Embiid isnāt having the best start to the year.
If someone put in print that I wasnāt honoring my dead little brother via my basketball play, Iād do way more than shove him.
Completely wild that people think they can discuss a guyās toddler and dead brother in the context of his basketball career.
I think itās extremely obvious why Embiid is sitting (heās not fully recovered, we all saw the Olympics, and heās literally never made it to the playoffs healthy, so thatās a priority for the team), and itās fine to write a column suggesting that his frequently questionable dedication to diet and conditioning may be contributing to his slow recoveryā¦but the guy DID play the playoffs last year on a blown tire, there is no evidence he simply chooses not to play (the NBA is fining the Sixers for saying it was load management and not an injury! We all agree he canāt play!). And again - invoking his child and his dead brother is madness. Just say you think heās lazy! Why are we bringing dead brothers and children into this!?
Also Embiid is 30 pounds lighter than two years ago, his conditioning used to be an issue, itās been addressed. His problem is that heās had two miniscus trims on his left knee - thatās a prophelactic procedure, itās just a matter of how long he can play with the pain and discomfort, because it wonāt stop.
Worst part of the increasing popularity of the league is the increasing real-Housewives style coverage of it (this, Bronny, etc.)

Yeah he literally just got burned trying to power thru a team suggestion to sit last year. These people donāt care about these guys or even very easy to ascertain facts.

does anyone have takes on the state of nba basketball and whether rule changes need to be made so that fewer 3 pointers are taken?
I think itād be cool if they could find a way to encourage alternative styles of play / strategies like there is in college basketball.
But I donāt know what the answer would be.

I donāt think it would improve the sport (and would never happen), but Iād be fascinated to see what basketball would look like without a three-point line. I think youād see a lot more size, athleticism, and physicality. Teams would still try to space the floor though.
That would be even more embarrassing than the MLB banning the shift.
I thought Vecenieās idea of just making the 3 point line the same radius (basically turning corner 3A into 2s was interesting.)
Or maybe getting rid of 3 sec in the lane without guarding rule.
