Detroit Pistons & NBA Talk

I think he could work as a Bruce Brown style 4. But that doesn’t fit what this team needs.

Great finishing at the rim when he can get downhill and a great lob threat. But can’t shoot at all. Undiscipliubut can create havoc on defense.

Yeah on Hami…think Andre Roberson.

I think CoJo will likely still play when everyone is back. Burks ability to play on ball is…exaggerated in my opinion. I’m not sure why, if winning is the goal, Hayes would play over Joseph.

Diallo doesn’t really D up like Roberson… he’s really an offense only player whose very effective as off ball cutter, and that’s it

I think he has it in him to defend really well. He’s a great athlete.

Yeah but if you’re not doing it 5 years in… You probably just don’t have the mental makeup for it

Isaiah finished his first half shift - 7 minutes, 5 points 2/3 shooting (1/2 on threes

Look I know the options are limited and stuff, and maybe the “trying to win” verbiage isn’t true.

But playing the 5 man bench lineup, especially withouth Burks available (and I guess Bagley, but if they move Bojan to the bench to start Bagley I’ll have even more questions) is just suicide.

Joseph, Hayes, Diallo, Knox, Duren has played 14 minutes, and is -50 points per 100 possessions. I know, sample size, but I think any reasonable human could tell you that team won’t score. (the version with Livers played 4 minutes in the 1 game, and is -73 per 100 possessions, so he doesn’t solve it)

Against Indiana, they kept a starter out there more minutes with the bench I believe. Knox didn’t play and Diallo barely played.

Looks like it’s time to start talking up Killian’s D again

Looks like it’s time to start considering a future with Wemby in a Piston uniform

The D hasn’t stood out either.

Or Scoot. Those Thompson twins are crazy athletic if they can learn to shoot.

Pistons need shooters. The issue is the wing prospects are all scorers and are athletic but it seems like none of them are shooters. If there is a draft class that they need a 3 and D type, they better hope Kris Murray emerges for them.

Shocking Troy Weaver has a team full of athletic non-shooters.

What’s the real need? Their two best players are in their first 2 years in the league. It’s not like they are expected to be a good team, right?

Seems like it all comes down to how Jaden and Cade develop before you worry about what is around them right now.

Shooting also seems like one of the more straightforward things to add later right?

(I am cautiously wading into this thread because I watched some of the Pistons game last night  even though I know I shouldn’t)

Most recent roster addition was literally a top shooter.

When Burks comes back from injury he can shoot too. But neither guy is a part of the long term future and won’t be there by the time the team is actually good. Bogdanovic is a really nice player. So nice that he will likely be traded at the deadline.

The real need is depth since their bench suck Also, they lacked wing players on the roster and they need shooting around Cade and Jaden plus room for Duren as a lob threat/rim runner. The Pistons aren’t a great shooting team. Bogan is a good shooter. Livers is a good shooter but he’s coming off an injury and I’m not too worried about him. When you look at the makeup of the roster, they are lacking in wing players. This is something that Weaver needs to address this off-season.

Hayes play has been dreadful so far and it highlights the need for Burks to get healthy and take minutes away from Hayes. I’m not a fan of CoJo but CoJo is more playable than Hayes at this point.

One isn’t enough. They still lack shooter. Burk is a good shooter. When you look up and down the roster, they’re lacking in that department.

They aren’t supposed to be a good team yet though, right?

Seems like the big takeaway is that Jaden Ivey looks awesome.
