If the Mavs had dealt Luka wisely I think they’d be doing just fine. Every human being with a microphone made it clear they thought Nico did just about the dumbest possible thing the dumbest possible way.

Do things wisely, you’ll get good faith commentary that your fans will respond to. But if you don’t trust yourself to do a good job, sure, just wait for Giannis to sour on you.

Well…

lol Beasley is literally the first picture on the scroll of their front page of their site

Free agent shooter Duncan Robinson has agreed to a three-year, $48 million deal with the Detroit Pistons, sources tell ESPN. Agent Jason Glushon navigated multiple options in the market, which included potential return to Miami or move elsewhere. Now Robinson lands in Detroit. https://www.espn.com/contributor/shams-charania/ff074e51ed445?modifier=webview http://espn.com/app

Fontecchio to Miami.

That’s the Beasley replacement.

Beasley = Duncan
LeVert > THJ
Bball Paul = Bball Paul
Ivey > Schroeder

Probably need a backup PF to replace Tek

So that’s Schroeder, THJ, and Beasley out, Caris and Duncan in?

Think that’s pretty nice business for the Pistons.

Just need to find a backup playable rotational PF unless they plan on Holland or Ausar play there

Caris getting lots of strays even from pulitzer prize winner Graham Couch.

Couch is just still bitter about this

The second year of Robinson’s deal is 40% guaranteed, the third is non-guaranteed

So it’s like …1.5 years for like 16 mil lol

Genuinely wonder where they will trade Ivey

Wouldn’t that be 22.5 mill or so assuming that it’s a flat rate contract?

Whoops yes you’re right

22 mil guaranteed money, I didn’t math right

Wow good deal for the Pistons

They have the money this year, he’s been a good offensive player, makes total sense given they don’t really need to pay him if he doesn’t work out

I think they replaced Beasley with a reasonable facsimile (at least for next year) in Robinson (or upgraded Hardaway depending on how you view it), and upgraded Schroder with Levert

Pistons: B

Shooting became an urgent need for the Pistons early in free agency. Detroit presumably won’t return guard Malik Beasley, who is under investigation by the United States District Attorney’s office on allegations of gambling related to NBA games and prop bets.

The Pistons also saw starting guard Tim Hardaway Jr. commit to the Denver Nuggets, leaving Cade Cunningham as their only player under contract that made at least 100 3-pointers last season. Enter Robinson, the NBA’s all-time leader in 3-point attempts per 36 minutes (9.9) who’s made them at a 40% career clip, including 190 makes last season.

It’s possible Robinson could fill Hardaway’s starting role, spacing the floor alongside Cunningham and non-shooters Jalen Duren and Ausar Thompson. That would leave fellow newcomer Caris LeVertreplacing Beasley in Detroit’s second unit. Robinson split his time almost evenly between starting and coming off the bench the last two seasons with the Heat.

I am surprised there was enough interest for Robinson to command more than the non-taxpayer midlevel exception. I didn’t have him among my top 25 potential free agents. As terrific a shooter as Robinson is, he’s a below-average defender, an issue that could become more pronounced as he ages. (Robinson turned 31 in April.) That salary won’t matter much for the Pistons this season; after swapping Fontecchio for Robinson, Detroit is nowhere near the luxury-tax line.
