I don’t think I was meaning to imply that they wouldn’t help. I just was impressed with how many people were involved to names that I associate with interesting behaviors in football.
Pretty clear what game they are playing.
And I’ll buy an argument that it is the only way to play the game too, but there are still guys that play it differently in the US .
the NBA has been trying to re-legislate ownership rules to let sovereign wealth funds and M&A firms in directly (I’m very curious in a terrified way about what an M&A firm would do to a team given their business model, but that’s another issue) so I think we’ll see more and more.
Very few individuals can afford these teams anymore, especially given the leverage restrictions the leagues have

I’m aware! I still think there is a fundamental difference between a consortium of rich guys (the basic model now - there are few (if any now? I guess Ballmer?) individual owners) and the Qatari government or a debt & dump firm

My point is you can own two different franchises, and one is good and the other is bad. No guarantee that LAL will be fine under his watch.

There’s rumor that the offer package from SAS is 14, Devin Vassell and Harrison Barnes. It sounds like SAS is the likeliest destination for KD.
Ishibia wants a big package, but the issue is KD is 37 and has 1 year left in his contract. Not a lot of value even though KD is an elite player. The Suns can choose not to trade KD, but they risk letting him walk for nothing after next season.
I think as long as the Suns ask is a draft pick and active players who will help them make the playoffs, they’re drawing dead here

I sort of think Durant’s single year could be seen as a positive? If you’re someone like the Timberwolves, you can see if he pushes you over the conference finals hump, and if he doesn’t, you’re happy with him walking. If he does, and he walks…well you got farther than you would have!
