Detroit Pistons & NBA Talk (Part 1)

That’s why I am wary of Sharpe at top 4. Outside? Maybe.

Man, they REALLY need to trade Grant, and “top ten pick” isn’t on the board. Maybe if they had done it at the trade deadline in his first year, or last offseason, but some shine has come off that diamond.

This is Giannis as a rookie compared to now

I don’t think Chet gets to 250 but in a span of 7 of 8 years you can make big leaps.

100 percent agreement. GA has multiple MVPs. Completely unrealistic to expect the same. Just trying to make a stylistic comparison to somebody productive who is not a real wing defender.

Yeah I think he has gained a lot in even the last two years. He is now basically Adonis, who I guess probably was also Greek.

I think you need to look at Durant physically for Chet, not Giannis. Chet has a narrow, slender, awkward frame. I don’t think it will enable him to add weight like Giannis…who always had broad shoulders and an athletic build. That doesn’t mean Chet can’t get stronger and be effective, but it may mean that he will never truly be a center in the NBA.

The questions about what positions he would play did give me pause earlier but his shooting (and efficiency) is so good you have to take a gamble on. 39% on >100 3PAs.

That’s a problem because Chet isn’t a great athlete. If he’s only a PF then it changes how I view Chet as a prospect. If he can add bulk, he would be similar to JJJ in terms of being a PF who can moonlight at C. If he can’t then we have problems IMO.

From The Ringer:

“Two years later, Holmgren is the top freshman in college basketball—and has bulked up five pounds, from 190 to 195”

He put on five pounds in two years. As a TEENAGER. I think that tells you a lot about whether he can undergo a physical transformation like that or not.

Sharpe might have the highest upside in the draft. He could turn into Tracy Mcgrady. He could also bust but so could Chet or Ivey.

Isn’t it harder to gain weight as a teenager and easier in your 20s?

I believe it’s easier in your 40s. But that’s just something a guy told me at the airport bar. I don’t know.

Dude’s BMR is prob like 10K, I wouldn’t take too much from any of this

Grant is meh, but idk what they have to trade since the New Orleans pick didn’t convey.

Now obviously a guy like me or dirk can pack on five pounds in the next five hours if we really had to. But five pounds in two years sounds quite extreme.

I would be delighted to learn that it’s not to be expected in your late teens. I’m looking for any and all ways to get comfortable with him, becuase there’s a lot about him that’s really enticing. Maybe if he was already this height by age 17? I dunno.

Could say that about a lot of dudes in the first round. I’d rather bet on a dude with college film

Chet doesn’t have the frame to put on much weight. His body is so narrow it is a wonder that his game jersey doesn’t slip right off of him. Somebody in the NBA is going to break him in half.

This has been my comp the whole season.

If Chet can shoot it doesn’t matter how athletic he is, because every jumper he takes is almost definitely optionally wide open.

Defensively, I don’t see the point in debating if he’s a 4 or 5 because I think the answer is pretty clearly going to be “both”

Chet should’ve gained a lot of weight from college S&C but he barely gained weight. I have doubt that he can get bigger. He’s long but his shoulders looked narrow so I am not sure if he can pack on weight. That’s might be me talking about my ass but that’s a concern of mine.

A good example would be Shawn Crable. He is top heavy with a skinny ass legs. He went through college S&C and still can’t put on bulk in his lower body.

Can Chet get bigger? Possibly but how much bigger will he be in the NBA is the question.
