Detroit Pistons & NBA Talk (Part 1)

That 2 on 1 defense from McDaniels was amazing

As a Timberwolves fan I’m so conflicted about Divencenzo. He’s been average all year, which kept making me wonder how the F he did what he did in that title game.

Well he had one of six or seven best three point shooting seasons in history last year

Ya. He was on the Knicks. I didn’t watch.

Terrance Shannon breaking the conference finals rotation is a surprise

I want Knicks - Wolves for the most successful trade ever

He’s a good bench player.

The T Wolves are going to be kicking themselves if they lose. Can’t clear the loose balls/ boards

Randle stinking too

How do you have defensive lapse there?

Season Killer

Congrats to the okc thunder. I have no idea who is even gonna challenge you next year either

If owners pay up to keep guys and there’s no catastrophic injuries, hard to imagine them not running off a bunch of titles

Well there’s the 2nd apron. Jalen Williams contract will be interesting to watch because he made All-NBA team which he’ll be eligible for the $296 mil contract, but OKC will pick up his team option which is 6.6 mil so they’ll still control his rookie contract until after next season. Then there’s Chet whose contract will be up at the same time as Jalen.

I’d have to imagine that Hartstein and Caruso would be candidates to get traded within the next couple of seasons. Also, Presti has draft picks to retool his roster.

NBA window can close in a hurry if Presti isn’t smart with roster and cap management with respect to 1st and 2nd apron.

Meh their idiots if they let the second apron get in their ways of keeping dudes. Yeah they’ll be stuck but all the draft capital they have still gives them plenty to work with.

We we will see what the second apron forces Boston and Cleveland into

Nobody has actually spent into it deeply

Owners love the excuse it gives them to not spend

That’s fine I don’t know why you think that will suddenly change (I assume they invest in Shai, Williams, Chet and figure the rest out)

It also makes team-bulding really difficult (can’t aggregate contracts, your picks get frozen, etc)

I do hate the fact that this rule, put in place to stop big markets from cornering the market, will basically first impact the massive media markets of Cleveland and OKC for building teams completely in-house via the draft.

Yeah the second apron stuff just makes everything harder even though yes theoretically you can resign all your guys

And owners have decided it’s a debilitating financial decision whether you think that’s an excuse or what it is reality

I just think it’s ridiculous that they backed into a cap plan that actually results in a weird situation where Cleveland gets penalized for Mobley making All-NBA while Memphis claps their hands with glee that JJJ got snubbed

You realize who’s the current owner of the OKC Thunder? He’s not going to want to pay the tax penalties for getting to the 2nd apron.
