Yeah, I got lost in the excitement of the tourney win and watching the tournament games at night and totally missed out on this Michigan reunion game!
Franz looked to have a great night, and Moe has been playing sneakily well as of late…of course it helps when you play for a terrible team. Still, may be playing himself into a solid position as a backup big (he is only 24 still).
I also wonder how much both of these teams are starting to let guys play more from their benches in a not so subtle attempt to tank. Hence we might see more Livers, Moe, Iggy, etc.
I think tying “Mo is getting more minutes” to “they are a bad defensive team” is pretty informative, lol.
Honestly, Bamba is a massive anchor at this stage, even defensively (even more than Mo) From an on/off perspective he’s one of the worst players in the league. Since the Magic seem to really want to play another big with Carter as a matter of policy, Mo is doing better than Bamba.
It’s conceivable that he may not be a bad player in an absolute sense but doesn’t provide value when he plays next to Carter who is a superior defensive player. The other main double-big team is Cleveland but I think Mobley survives on fours much better than Bamba (and Allen a better rim protector than Carter).
Went to the Pistons game tonight. Electric environment. Great turnout. (UM BBall fans need to step up.) And the team, while young and not great, is fun to watch. Livers made some big buckets down the stretch.
Cade is finishing the season incredibly strong. With Mobley tailing off without Jarrett Allen in the line-up, and Cade about to win his second Rookie of the Month (averaged around 23/6/7 on 47+% FG, plus 1.3 steals a game in March), I think he should win Rookie of the Year.
