It’s like he never saw Stew chase after LeBron with a face full of blood.
Right he’s the last guy I would test. If he changes his name to Metta Beef Stew I would really be worried
Zach Lowe returns tomorrow with a new podcast
TPTSNBN had their “top 10 players in the NBA” pod yesterday
landed something like (there were three people, so some variation)
Jokic
Shai
Giannis
Steph
Tatum
Doncic
Lebron
Wembanyama
Ant
and then it fell into a group of Mitchell, Mobley, Brunson, AD
Cade came up, agreed he was “high teens” to “low 20’s”
the exercise here isn’t “who is having the best season” (they agreed they’d all vote Shai for MVP for instance, but all had him behind Jokic), but “who I’d pick to start a team starting today”
I assume they mean who they would pick to start a team for one season? Because with age factored in, I imagine Lebron, Steph and AD would be lower on the list for building out a franchise into the future.
Yeah, it’s a right now evaluation. If you dropped player X on a random team tomorrow, who would impact their chances of winning more games the most.
yes, 1 season
Playoffs clinched. Duren was great on both ends tonight.
Congrats fellas from your resident Pacers fan! Really happy to see the Pistons back in the playoffs.
The man with the 1-3 Playoff record!
If they win tonight, the Pistons will have made a 30 game jump in wins. And this would be despite losing their 2nd best scorer 30 games into the season. JB has to win Coach of the Year, right?
Probably going to be Atkinson from what I can tell
That seems questionable to me. The Cavs (thus far) have won 14 more games than last year but they also had Garland, Mitchell, and Mobley each play 20 or so more games than last year. Heath helps. They probably win in the high 50’s last year if they’re all fine.
The Pistons leap, despite losing Ivey for 52 games and not having Ausar for the first 20 games, seems way more impressive to me. And there weren’t many who thought that Tobias, Hardaway, and Beasley were going to be that much better than they were with Bojan, Burks, and Grimes. Vegas had the line at 25.5 wins and they’re at 43 with 5 games remaining.
I’m not making an argument I’m telling you what’s likely to happen
I think that elevating a team from pretty good to top two will always be looked upon more favorably than elevating from trash to pretty good from a good number of voters
I know. I’m just yelling at the wind!
Here are the MGM odds
The award is catnip for dudes in their first year on the job
Daigneault is going to coach one of like the five best net rating teams ever and nobody seriously considers him
Maybe the Pistons will buck the Vegas odds again?
I kind of doubt it. We’ve never been a glamour team and it feels like they’d already handed the award to Atkinson in December
Baring a skid these last 5 games, the Pistons longest losing streak of the season was only 4 in a row. A 24-game improvement over last year!
