Detroit Pistons & NBA Talk (Part 1)

Basically a complete pass for me on Gradey Dick anywhere in the top ten.

Feels like Coulibaly, Black and Bufkin are the guys who could sneakily rise.

just curious why?

Just feels like a wildly one-dimensional guy to pick in the top ten.

as in, you don’t tihnk he can defend, or he’s one dimensional offensively

Pistons really do have a couple obvious holes on roster: guys who can guard guys 6-7 to 6-9 and guys who can shoot. Dick is a reach but he is check-check on profile and I think everybody agrees he is almost definitely an NBA rotation player.

Don’t really have a strong take on his defense – never heard of him referred to as an impact guy on that end – but mostly just meant that he’s one-dimensional offensively.

There’s a role for that, but top ten just feels rich. Orlando at 11 makes sense.

Yeah, definitely, but it’s a really important dimension. I just think you know within reason what you’re getting from him in a way you may not with most of these guys.

I think his size, and his ability to grab some steals in college suggest he may have a bit more defensive resistance than most guys of this type. Seemed like teams went at him all the time in Kansas games, and he survived ok

If you are picking at 18… you could just take Jett or Hawkins or whoever. :man_shrugging:

Crazy to me that Andre Jackson is mocked in the 2nd round.

I see you on Hawkins

We’ve all discussed Jett enough, but I just have major doubts with about everything on him, could very well be over-exposure to his flaws in a way I didn’t get with Dick (though for some reason I watched lots of Kansas). I just think if you watched the two there wasn’t much comparison in who was better.

Kispert went 15th last year, so we definitely know that shooters can get overdrafted.

I would love it if the Pistons could trade to draft 9th and 18th. They lost the top of it, but this draft feels truly deep. There are NBA players in the late teens.

There are questions but he’s far more talented offensively if he can put it together IMO.

Kispert is the comp that comes to mind. I just go back to Dick being considerably younger (Kispert scored 6 points a game at Dick’s age), so I do think he’s a bettter prospect. I’m not going to argue too hard for Dick in the top 10, because I barely have him in it (but I do have him in it)

No, Kispert is worse on everything (length, athletics) except production against WCC. And Duck is three years younger. Not comparable in my mind as prospects.

(Context — I’m a sorta Wizards fan, so most definitely in da trenches.)

I more think they’re similar kinds of players (large movement shooters). I think Dick is a significantly better version of that kind of player

I’d like the Pistons to look at him at 31. An older player that’s still an upside swing if he can add a little scoring.

I am not sure Grady D is a better NBA player than Livers. He probably is…but not so much so that you take him 5.

I mean, he did Livers’ senior season as a freshman (Livers is my favorite Michigan player)

Thompson twins are very likable.
