College Practice Camp

Michigan’s College Practice Camp (Elite Camp) takes place today with underclassmen in the morning and upperclassmen (rising juniors and seniors) in the afternoon.

I’ll be on hand as usual, but U-M requests no live tweeting, videos, etc. so the content should be available throughout the day but not during session.

A few expected names (should have a full roster later) are Jon Teske, Austin Davis, top-75 '17 swing man Greg Floyd, '17 wing Zach Gunn and many others.

Is C.J. Walker going to participate? I think he mentioned he was going to participate a couple weeks back, but then he sustained an injury (ankle maybe?) not too long ago.

Morning session of camp is in the books. It was all 2018 and 2019 kids. Here is the roster from the first session… I’ll have some quick thoughts in a few minutes.

2018

Carrington Wiggins, Devin Buckles, Goliath Mitchell, Isaiah Rousey, Ja'Kavien Lewis, Kaevon Merriweather, Logan Jones, Micah Saltzman, Randy Frison, Thomas Kithier, Trendon Hankerson, Tyler Bosma, Arashma Parks, Austin Boucher, Austin Roland, Brady Rosen, Braeden McGrew, Cody Blankenburg, Darren Hampton, Jayden Redeemer, Joe Monteith, Juan Elmore, Keyon Brown Jr., Pierre Mitchell Jr., Liam Greene-Kaleski, Malichi Mcclain, Rashad Williams, Shayne Scruggs, Teddy Sourlis, Ty Rosen, Vincent Gary, Zachary Winston, Zavon Godwin

2019

Aaron Etherington, Brandon Wade, Cade Coleman, Caleb Hodgson, Carson McLaughlin, Christopher Chin, Colin Troup, Dante Bartwell, Davion Williams, Jack Ammerman, Justin Jelks, Kendall Perkins, Khy Winston, Noah Smith, Noah Voorhies, Ryan Wade, Sean Cobb, Terry Armstong, Zach Trent, Ayush Trivedi, Carey Haney, Jeremiah Francis, Jeremiah Keene, Jiovanni Miles, Josh Edwards, Luke Hyde, Nick Frank, Pete Nance, Taylor Currie

A few notables from the morning session were

Pete Nance, Arashma Parks, Jeremiah Francis, Sean Cobb, Zavon Godwin, Thomas Keither and Shayne Scruggs just to name a few.

Pete Nance is Larry Nance Jr.'s younger brother and already has a ton of length for a 2019 kid.

Arashma Parks was the most dominant big man at camp at least physically. He could push people around and had some huge blocks against Sean Cobb. He’s related to Omari Spellman (Villanova commit) I believe. A lot of potential there.

Will have much more later, but just wanted to share a few quick thoughts.

Afternoon session is scheduled for 4 p.m. and we’ll have much more throughout the weekend.

Thanks for the updates. Look forward to hearing more later.

Cassius Winston was also in attendance. He’s not playing yet (still in a cast) but was around the gym.

Will have much more coming.

Underclassmen notes http://www.umhoops.com/2015/06/08/scouting-college-practice-camp-underclassmen/

I’ve been patiently waiting for a report on the '16’s and ‘17’s. Have I missed it or will it be coming soon? Obviously, I’m particularly interested in Teske and Davis’ performances.

Been on the front page for the last couple of days http://www.umhoops.com/2015/06/08/scouting-college-practice-camp-upperclassmen/

If anyone has any other questions, you can fire away here.

Dylan - Not really camp related but for the upperclassmen as there been any reaction from Josh Langford about what our coaches have been recruiting him since the Battle commitment?

Dylan, I saw that you had Kobe Webster among “others” at the afternoon session. I was at that session and I loved the kid (who I had never heard of, much less seen, until that session). I realize that he’s short (5’9"/5’10", and that’s even after a growth spurt of several inches) and he shoots the ball from a low release point (ala Winston), but to me, he does everything a PG should do very well–great handle and passing ability, changes speeds extremely well, shoots it from the perimeter and attacks the basket, good athlete with good quicks, understands the game and is a leader, and steps up in big spots. Right now, I think he’s underrated/under-recruited because of size and because he’s a role player on a loaded Park Tudor team, but I have to believe that will change. It would be hard to play him alongside Winston because of size, but if Cassius goes elsewhere, based on what I saw, I’d be happy prioritizing him in '17 over some of the guys we have as Plan B PGs on the '16 board. What did you like/not like about Winston and do you know what the staff thinks of him?
