I was under the impression that the conversation was recorded in lieu of having a 3rd party in the room for the firing, as would generally be customary for any dismissal from a position so that any conflict has 0% chance of becoming a he said she said situation. Kentucky is a 1 party consent state, so he certainly could’ve just had a tape in there for the purpose of this firing.
Given that the assistant seems to lack anything even close to resembling common sense, he could’ve just not realized “Oh, there’s no HR person here. This conversation is probably being recorded.” and made the threats thinking there was no shot it would get out.
Also now having listened as well as read the interaction. The highlight for me is probably where Dino has to stop threatening Mack for about a minute and a half so that he can figure out what year he turns 66.
If only one party knows there is a recording, they can decide to use it only when it helps their case. They can turn it on and off when they choose too.
It’s not a good substitute for having a third person in the room.
Certainly not a good substitute, thus my “a 3rd party in the room should be present for any firing” comment, but still one nonetheless based on what it seems happened.
Before this stint with Louisville, Gaudio coached at Wake and then did studio work for ESPN. Safe to say he won’t be getting any coaching or analyst gigs in the near future.
Not sure where to put this or it’s overall relevancy, but Patrick Bielein has been named the coach of the Syracuse Stallions (a minor professional team here in Syracuse).
Maybe puts him back on the road to coaching in the college ranks.
I feel like taking UCF over Memphis is very short sighted move. Does UCF really have the potential that Memphis does? I know there are actual Memphis fans but I’m guessing most UCF fans are also Florida or FSU fans. This is just talking about football, where basketball it’s obviously not even a contest
