If OTE got Duren and Bates that would be massive for the viability of it in the future

There was a reason Kevin Ollie was at their games this weekend.

they probably can throw in extra money to secure Duren and Bates. the big question is still, will people watch???

The answer is no for players like those twins. People would watch for Bates and Duren though.

Which is why I could see a major bag thrown around – bigger than anything we’ve seen up to this point. VC money doesn’t do any good sitting in an account somewhere.

Your move, NCAA.

Hmmm – how so? I still think this siphons off a player pool that was unlikely to play in college hoops.

I just think OTE poses a more dangerous version of the G League threat. Seems more likely this ends up with double digit top 20 recruits instead of 2 or 3 like the G League was racking up, but I may be wrong.

NBL in Australia factors in here as another college alternate (both out of high school and after a few years of college). As an English speaking country this could continue to become a viable option.

Pretty sure the combo of OTE and Ignite will kill the NBL path – if it hasn’t already.

Huh? How so

That was a little off topic, but I have to say that I read the entirety of that article and thoroughly enjoyed it. thanks for sharing it.

Definitely possible, I suppose. If they are taking kids for 2+ years, maybe it actually ends up providing more clarity to the situation? Maybe the G-League recruits OTE kids? Hard to say at this point how it will all play out.

If OTE has enough $$ burning a hole in its pocket, maybe you could see them splash out for a good number of prospects that actually buys out the top end of CBB? But either way, I’d imagine the NBA is perfectly happy to not spend the $$ on Ignite if they think OTE will do right by the players.

Would guess the big Q is: does Kevin Ollie have enough cachet to say “hey I can get you to the league” and be believed? I’d guess not.

the question for OTE is where is their revenue stream. Unlike international soccer, NBA teams do not pay transfer fees. G-league is funded by the league and doesn’t need to make money, and I assume that whoever invest in OTE want some returns, maybe they can get a cut as an agent.

Wow…Gonzaga is going to be stacked this year.

Come late March though, HD will be the biggest baddest big Timme will face all year.
