But it’s still just Lanny Davis’s kid your talking about.

Tucson calling Quick Rick Pitino. UA stood by their man Sean Miller through the scandal and, as we all know, Lute Olson’s program was squeaky clean.

not sure if this is a legit source but:

Love the “roughly” number to two decimal points.

I don’t know much about Lloyd other than his resume but seems like a good hire (and if it knocked Gonzaga down a peg, that’s OK with me).

yeah feels more like a blow to Gonzaga than a big phat W for Arizona. he is a pretty niche dude especially on the recruiting trail

On the one hand, this is absolutely true. On the other hand, he’s probably become a nice coach studying under Few for two decades. And then on your third hand, why has it taken two decades to get a shot? Just waiting for the perfect opportunity?

these are all great questions. hopefully somebody picks his brain at the intro PC

Given the timing on how all this went down from Miller getting axed to a quick hire you have to think the wheels were in motion on this for a while. May help explain Gonzaga’s underwhelming performance in the Final 4.

So the previous post about Lloyd being named coach was premature?

I’m not sure that an assistant fielding a couple of phone calls about a coaching position is really going to affect how a basketball team performs in the national final.

There’s talk of this in football, and with the heavy schematic prep and installation that takes place in that sport, it’s reasonable to ask about. But I just don’t see it in basketball. It’s not like there was something Baylor did that Gonzaga should have yet failed to prepare for because an assistant wasn’t giving 24/7.

I agree, the title came down to Baylor was really good and played great. Gonzaga was really good and did not play well enough.

2.88 Million a year paid in leftover brown lunch bags filled with unmarked bills.

There - just wanted to clarify that.

Just passing on this article about Bert Smith’s fall during the Elite Eight. Turns out it was a blood clot in his lung that caused him to collapse. Thankful he’s going to make a full recovery. Hats off to all the refs & support staff, and coaches who made basketball happen this dangerous season!

When does a niche recruiter become real damn good at your job??

Batista
Harris
Karnowski
Sabonis
Turiaf
Rui
Cespedes
Pangos
Wiltjer(transfer)
Sacre
Petrusev
Tille
Olynyk
Ayayi

That’s almost 2 decades of players I don’t think it’s some niche at this point he’s pretty much an expert.

as in targeting overseas prospects

He also heads up Gonzaga’s transfer recruiting which has been key. This would be a massive blow for Gonzaga, few is not exactly a recruiting grinder. Lloyds recruiting is what took Gonzaga from a great mid major program to a national powerhouse.

Glad he’s okay and it turned out to be a blessing in disguise!

On another thread, there’s a discussion on preseason rankings so I was curious to look back at Kenpom’s preseason projections to see how they did:

22 of 25 made the tournament.
14 of 25 ended up in the postseason Kenpom Top 25.
