I wonder if the appeal for the G-League option is getting a little boost from the pandemic. Being at a large university versus being at a small academy. (Obviously the money as well in a time of financial uncertainty.)
They will be ok. They still have Tyger Campbell so they can handle a departure like this better than most in this scenario
I think so. There is a chance that the season won’t even happen and if it does, without fans or very few. That college home atmosphere is part of what makes it great. If that isn’t there I imagine that takes a lot of the fun and energy out of playing for a college. I wouldn’t be shocked if guys like Suggs or some players committed to Blue bloods back out of their commitments to train and make good money doing it. For this year especially it seems even more feasible imo.
Some analysts were saying the nba wasn’t trying to compete with the NCAA for prospects, the nix thing should pretty much end that idea
When I watched Campbell this year, he was not very good. He can’t shoot a lick and he’s not like Zavier Simpson where he can make up for it in other ways.
He came off a bad knee Injury. In high school he was a tough downhill PG. Nix obviously would’ve been an upgrade but at least UCLA has an experienced PG still to run the show. And it wasn’t like they weren’t winning with him at the point to end the year either
Campbell shot it poorly last year (from 3 and at the basket) but his assist and turnover numbers are really good, especially for a true freshman. Led the P12 in assist rate as a freshman.
No idea how they would have played him next to Nix. I don’t know as much about Nix but you can’t really move Campbell off the ball.
Yep. He’s an old school PG. He’s tough and takes care of the ball. There was a reason MSU was on him very hard. He’s a tough SOB at the point of attack. He’s a quality 4 year player for sure.
Genuinely curious who this is because that’s hilarious. Unless it’s Emoni Bates anyone asking for a million has zero shot if Jalen Green is getting $500k. Maybe Jonathan Kuminga. Anyone else and it’s laughable. And I’m not even sure Bates and Kuminga are worth that. If anyone is in the high school ranks those are the only two and Cade Cunningham are the only ones I could see pulling a bigger contract.
This probably pissed a lot of college coaches off. Going to make them not nearly as willing to communicate with the G League officials I’m sure.
Yeah, aside from his shooting (which was dreadful), he wasn’t bad. Another thing that struck me was that he just didn’t seem particularly quick for his size.
I think he lost a bit of burst when he hurt his knee. He was pretty potent getting to the rim in high school and on the EYBL circuit. He played at the highest level in high school for those La Lumiere teams that dominated high school and for really talented EYBL teams that had Jaren Jackson, Xavier Tillman and Brandon Johns.
That’s why I’m wondering if losing Nix won’t really hurt them that bad. If he strengthens up his lower body this summer and comes back full strength before his injury he’s going to be really good. Still limited shooting though.
Did Tyger play with Jordan Poole for a year as well?
Yes he did
Yea, I like him a lot. They will be fine. Tyger will be a nice 4 year guy.
Does Tyger still have the 'do? (I am thinking of the right guy, right?)
You are and he still did, at least in this game:
This would be so good for northwestern, I know people will think I am crazy but I really think you can win there.
Except I don’t think this is a good time to be hiring. Would be a good move for Collins cause it’d buy him a couple more years at a high major level that I won’t think he’ll have otherwise.
