Good article about how the ncaa needs to go to hockey draft rules. This is the thing to do if you want to drastically increase talent levels in CBB
I think a big thing is that “the college experience” is heavily fetishized among the white upper-middle class. Not everyone feels the same way about it, which leads to the major disconnect as far as appeal of college hoops.
I always liked baseball, honestly.
The kids that want to go pro after HS, go - those that want to go to school commit for at least 3 years.
That doesn’t work for basketball because there’s not a legitimate minor league system. Also if you are talking about keeping the talent in college basketball that’s a terrible option. College baseball is not that popular outside of certain regions for exactly that reason.
I wonder who they’ll fill out the rest of the “Select” roster with if they don’t get more than a handful of guys in a class?
One of the top transfer targets is no longer an option
This is what Givony wrote:
The NBA’s plan is to stock this team with veteran pro players who would be willing to balance mentorship of Green and other prospects with the personal opportunities that might emerge because of the intense NBA scouting exposure that will come with these teams.
There was never any reported interest, unless I missed something.
Nah I was just saying it was a name discussed on our thread. Just was noting it.
Thanks Tom!
Didn’t he rage about Hauser? I mean…
Not sure I buy much of the detrimental to the kids argument. Coaches leaving for other jobs without having to sit out a year is more detrimental to the kids. Clearly Izzo is worried about his “tough love” approach leading to an increase in transfers if they can leave without penalty.
Apparently it’s detrimental because the current rule is saving kids from themselves and making bad decisions. At least that’s what many coaches have said
I’m not sure I understand the outcome but I’m very curious to see how this plays out. It seems like it would be chaos but I’m not sure. Given this boards exuberance around recruiting I can only imagine what a daily discussion around player “A” jumping to Michigan would look like. We could monitor every handshake between coach and player after every game! Bring it!
So I take it Watts is interested in transferring?
I do wonder if they will tighten the windows on when players can enter the portal? Football has had players leaving in September before classes start.
Unite, unless it’s Joey Hauser!
Not saying Izzo is wrong, but it’s not like he wasn’t already playing the transfer game with immediate eligibility as a deal breaker.
