It’s not like a post-season ban would have had much more of an impact on DePaul, though :man_shrugging:

The question is whether there is more to come on DePaul, specifically stemming out of the Bowen situation. This was from a previous violation about 3 years ago or so.

One thing about this which fascinates me–a “former Associate Head Coach” is given a 3 year show cause, but the guy is never named, not even in the NCAA official release. If you dig, it’s Rick Cater, who has had a number of jobs (grad assistant at Michigan State, assistant coach at Fairfield, Western Michigan, Missouri and Xavier, and AAU coach with the Michigan Mustangs), but I have never see this kind of penalty for a coach without identifying him. Perhaps the order of protection the DePaul AD and Leiteo got after firing him and allegedly being threatened by him plays in here, but it’s still weird.

Since its Carter, this article gives me a good chuckle

Until the NCAA puts its foot down and throttles the big schools they will continue to land the biggest fish.

The NCAA will never do that again.

As soon as I read the “news” from Sam Blum I just said, “That’s BS!” and I didn’t use just the letters B and S!

Haha why would they even try to spin that narrative when it is so easy to disprove?

Lack of shame.

Because the NCAA does not care at all.

Even if it were true, it seems to me that a six month, self-imposed “recruiting suspension” in exchange for thirty years or so of cheating is a deal Bruce Pearl would take any day of the week.

So Auburn put itself on double secret probation. I’m sure that will teach them to never cheat again.

and then ignored the fact that they were on double secret probation by having recruiting events at the school during said probation. Nicely done Bruce. Nicely done.

Can’t wait til Bruce Pearl is out of the game altogether.

He’s 59 years old, so hopefully he’ll retire within the next decade.
