Has anyone ever actually jumped to the NBA after doing this long drawn out thing? Seems like they’re either gone in the middle of the night or they play it out to be drama queens and then stay.

The flipside is the LAL job is a tough job because of LBJ and it’s the LAL job where you can get fired quicker than most franchises. Vogel won the NBA title and didn’t last long at the LAL! Was it due to LBJ or the LAL or the combination of both?

The Lakers isn’t actually a good job if you want to stick in the NBA.

You get 1 or 2 shots with Lebron. If you’re decently successful you can easily turn that into another job. I don’t see how it’s not a good job.
I’m actually surprised. 2 titles and the current landscape of college sports, I think most coaches would have taken the $70m Lakers offer even if their long term roster is not good.
What’s Hurley’s worst case? Fired in 2 years and he either 1) picks his college job or 2) sits out a year while still being paid by the Lakers and then picks his college job

This Lakers core is not winning a title, straight up. After which (2 years), you will be skewered by the media and you have a 50/50 chance of getting another NBA job, which may or may not be a good job.
