If he gets a long enough leash, he will have some random seasons where they are contenders. It is Kentucky and they will still bring in talent. But the question will be how much patience they have for him if they arenāt immediately contenders in the first couple years.
I initially voted for āGood, upper echelon SEC with a couple contending teams in a decadeā but I changed my answer after deciding that I donāt think the fanbase will have the patience to give him that decade of runway.

Pretty clearly have a big bag to operate with (this seems to apply to most new coaches across the sport). In this particular case, Tim Fanning is on staff at BYU and was a coach at OTE from 2021-24.
