College Basketball 2023-24 Discussion

Roster is absurd, only thing that will hold them back is the back end of their roster having a meltdown because they are barely playing.

Arizona State is going to be a spectacular mess.

Sonon is a 2025->2024 reclass and JQ is one of the youngest players in the class.

Alston Mason left his team mid-season for a week to participate in Paris Fashion Week with his brother.

Is this the year they are doing the reality show? Might be entertaining!

Also the fact that most of these guys were on the team this year and they were horrible defensively.

They did lose their best player in Walters.

Nique Clifford and Jaxson Robinson win this year’s Caleb/Moussa award. Deadline has passed and no one has heard form them.

So I think the idea is that this is some kind of ruling regarding players who have had to sit out for a year due to transfer rules, but it is a bit unclear.

The Quinnerly example he uses is a good one… does he get an extra year?

how and when will we find out who it applies to? Marcus Domask is probably in Europe somewhere trying to make a team, there’s a chance his waiver resurfaces and he could just come back to Illinois?

ah ok. that’s a smaller pool. and that rule no longer exists so grandfathering in guys like Quinerly

He was never a sit out transfer, was he?

no he had an injury but he never sat a year going from SIU to UIUC. I understand what Sweeney is saying. definitely a helpful clarification

Like Blake Hinson or someone like that could hypothetically have eligibility I guess? I’m not really sure. You also don’t lose eligibility for sitting out so getting a year back doesn’t make sense.

Most likely, those guys would all have moved on and done other things to impact their eligibility you would think but who knows.

huh that is also true. so Quinerly gets 7 years to play 6? why?

Think it’s time to transition to a 2024-2025 thread lol it’s driving me nuts for no reason

You lose eligibility if you sit out if it’s your second transfer or you already used a redshirt. The rule was “play 4 in 5 years and the covid year is a free year which doesn’t count for the numerator or denominator”

This has been bothering me for like a month and a half now! :joy:
