I mean sure but how many mid majors enjoy that level of success and retain their coach?
But more generally - the all conference guys from most mid majors that retain eligibility transfer now, right?

Some will, some wonât but I donât think thatâs going to ruin mid-majors. There will be talent moving up and down.
UAB kept Jelly Walker and they are good now. I would guess the best MM teams moving forward are very portal savvy
I do think part of it is that when coaches are with guys for years they know how to coach them and get the best out of them. Some guys need to be yelled at, some guys need to be more coddled, etc. When you recruit a player and heâs in your program for a few years you figure it out. When a guy shows up on campus four months before the season starts itâs a lot trickier.
The portal has seemed to revive Cooley and Providence. Every starter on their team is a transfer. Hopkins and Carter were really good adds, absolutely perfect for his system. And also are part of a demographic Iâd like to see us go after more: second year players
For an example of how this doesnât work, flip over to BTN and watch Brad Underwoodâs antics.
Edit: Or just look at the post above lol
Providence did absolutely nothing in the non-conference so of course theyâre on the verge of starting 5-0 in the Big East with wins over UConn and Marquette.
Is it just me or are we headed for an incredibly strong bubble this year? There are going to like nine Big 12 teams with legitimate tournament cases, plus teams like Michigan, Providence, Pitt, and Clemson starting conference play undefeated after really mediocre OOC runs.
On the flip side Illinois is 0-3 in the Big Ten but they beat Texas and UCLA. Creighton is 9-6 and Villanova is 8-7 but with Kalkbrenner and Whitmore back they could both surge.
Some of this will sort itself out obviously but it feels more open than usual even for early January.
Bryce Hopkins, the power forward that got away
The rich manâs TWill
Texas fired Beard
Texas shaved Beard
wonder if Rodney Terry gets any consideration for the full time gig. I doubt it
They should hire Mark Adams
I photoshopped this picture of what it might look like if Brad Underwood coached an orange Big 12 team
There is no equivalent to The Nick Saban Rehabilitation Center for Wayward Coaches is College Basketball, so is Beard done?
Does someone deal with the PR hit and hire him eventually? It seemingly would have to be a lower level/division to bite that bullet first eh?
Maybe Iona will hire him after Pitino is done
Heâll be hired again. They always get hired again. Just have to wait a couple years, mention you did a background check and fully vetted him etc etc.
Texas hires Tang. Brad Underwood leaves Illinois mid season for Kansas State.
