Purdue did it once I think

Smith and Nkamhoua and call it a day? Might be too light on ball handlers

Maybe I am greedy/unrealistic but I really think we need three more total. JL or GWIII, TWill, Tschetter, and Khayat should be spots 10-13

Is this the Jace to walk-on plan? Or unexpected additional attrition?

I had been thinking there’s a world where they get three more too. Ideally:
Nkamhoua
Backup 5
Minutes eating caliber 3

In that scenario, there’s a lot of odd ways to get to an extra scholly I feel like and idk how I’d handicap the likelihood, but I really wouldn’t be completely shocked if any of the following happen:

  • Jace to walk on
  • YoYo homesick and/or sees himself getting lost in the rotation
  • TWill gets annoyed they brought in two different 4s to play over him and leaves
  • Tschetter decides to tweet about restoring the culture at a MAC school
  • Llewellyn moves on and/or Michigan mutually decides to move on (I still feel like it’s weird they haven’t officially announced him back, at least I don’t think they have?)
  • Love de-commits cuz he thought he was coming to play with Hunter or because of some other Love mood-swing

Yes I’m thinking Jace off scholarship or another 4 departs.

This is the one i keep considering as very real, and is probably a tightrope that Juwan does not enjoy.

Why is a 2 guard worried about us bringing in 4s?

I am not sure how you’re going to find a starter at the 3&4 and backup 5 with what’s left in the portal plus keep the guys you have. Feels unrealistic. In that scenario where TWill (starter last year) is your deep bench guy, it means…

1-Dug
2-Love
3-Portal
4-Portal
5-Reed
6-Portal backup 5
7-Burnett
8-Jackson
9-TWill
10-Llewelyn
11-Jace
12-Yoyo
13-GW3
14-Tschetter

I think that’s wishful thinking. I think we need two guys and one of them needs to be impactful and the other needs to be rotation worthy. I am not nearly as down on Llewellyn as you are as a third guard.

it is definitely wishful thinking but it’s my recipe to actual contention and not just bubble in

I think you’re looking at a five to backup Reed and either Nkamoura or the best four available.

Is that a high usage cousin of Steve Bologna? I’d probably take him too

The current need is a backup 5. Probably a difficult get from the portal because generally the reason you are in the portal is that you think you deserve more playing time and aren’t aspiring to backup a sophomore center.

Make of it what you will, good or bad, but I sincerely doubt there is a Terrence Williams-free rotation next year

I will be honest to say that I am rooting for him to play (and play well)

At the same time, it would be pretty surprising if TWill played as many minutes as he did last year.

Yeah, I’m thinking (hoping) for more a 15ish minute role

Twill off the bench in a smaller role made things happen. I’m all for it. But I’m not clear that’ll be at the 4 vis-a-vis the 3, and I’m also expecting Yo-Yo to be in solidly in the rotation by late January. And there’s Jace.

With the roster as currently constructed Twill is primary back up at the 3&4. That probably at least a 20mins a game role. Adding another 4 he’d probably be down to about 15ish mins a game

I think you’re tentatively correct…pending what sort of off-season we get out of Yoyo. If he makes a step forward then he’s your backup at the 3 and TWill is just the backup at the 4.

I’m fine with 10-15 minutes of TWill because I think in a glue-guy role he’s a solid veteran who knows the system, moves the ball, rebounds, and plays decent defense. I’m not as gung ho to recruit bench players from the portal to ensure TWill is relegated to a victory cigar 10th man. If we get another impact forward and TWill is our 8th guy? Great!

If this is the actual finalized roster (it’s not) there’s a very real chance Twill would play more than Tray Jackson
