College Basketball 2021-22 Open Discussion

Because every casual, even Michigan, college basketball fans have no idea what the sanctions were about. Juwan was completely vindicated and that’s why he never lost All-American status or Regional MVP. Jalen, Jimmy, and Ray never were implicated. It was Webber, Taylor, Traylor, Bullock, and White.

Cause they’re cheeseballs mostly. As cool as we think he is and the fab five was there is a whole section of Americans fans that hated them and everything they stood for. Then the Uncle Ed thing happened and it was see “they’re no good”

Now Juwan is back. Young, black, cool, successful. Add that his first head coaching job is a big job and they probalby perceive it as he didn’t earn his stripes or isn’t qualified.

Then he comes in and starts landing the top recruits and is bringing back Ann arbor as a destination and they hate it. I mean the birds were in full effect when Martelli won that first game. “See, he’s the brains in the operation. Juwan is overhyped and a bad coach bla bla bla.” His relative youth and skin color has to play a part subconciously if the people making these claims know or not imo.

Martelli did a great job, don’t get me wrong and this has been Juwan’s weakest year imo , not just due to the talent. I thought earlier in the year he struggled a bit wth some of the subbing patterns/minutes and combos he was playing with. I thought Martelli did better in those five games than Juwan there but he also is coaching a much improved team from two months ago. Juwan never struggled with that issue before though so I’m not too concerned.

Thats why as frustrating as this team has been I’m just as invested as any year cause now I’m feeling the “us against the world” vibe and i’d love for Juwan to get in and take them on a cinderella run to rub it in their faces, then slap Krabbenhoft again!!!

Just kidding (kind of)

To follow up, there is still pure hatred for the Fab Five in the Midwest among a certain group of people (racists). As a kid living in Indiana that bled Maize and Blue, I know this too well. My dad had to lay out a piece of human trash for getting in my face when I was 9 years old. Sadly, not much has changed since the early 90s.

2 years ago I wore a Jalen jersey (Pacers) to the Indy 500 and random people yelled ("f*** J**en!). You have to remember that Jalen is one of the best Pacers of all time. Led them with Reggie to the Finals, but the morons here still hate him.

Loved Jalen on those Pacers. Actually I can’t lie, I liked those Pacers years and then the ones that followed with Jermaine O’neal and crew.

Always liked Reggie Miller too. Loved me early ears Artest even though he was clearly crazy. Forgot I’m in Pistons country on this forum but oh well. Flame away I guess.

I actually think Artest blew the Pacers chance at the title though. The year he went insane was by far their best chance imo to win a title with that group and he blew it by going insane. Artest had been absolutely balling early in the season as was the whole group. He was at the peak of his two way abilities and was actually really hard to guard at that time.

working an overnight right now and watching some old games. Is anyone else intrigued by Texas tech? I looked at their roster a bunch of times this year and couldn’t figure out how they were doing this , but its clear I just wasn’t familiar with a lot of their transfers from smaller schools.

They look like a live one to me honestly. I really like this team.

Had a really good shot in 2000 with Reggie and Jalen leading the way. I know it was only a 6 game series, but those Pacers gave the Lakers all they could handle.

Artest was a ticking time bomb. I remember reading an article about his crazy way before the brawl. He damn near choked a kid to death in high school because that kid cut him in the lunch line. Great hooper, but a lunatic. Really hope he has his stuff together now and I don’t end up listening to a really depressing episode of Crime in Sports in the future.

Great defense, but putrid offense.

I’m too young to hate the Pacers lol If anything, I kind of respect them for stubbornly clinging on to mediocrity and flat out refusing to tank lol Like, it’s the definition of insanity but you do you. Pacers are one of the historic franchises of the NBA and they’ve never had a number 1 draft pick.

As a Pistons fan, my hate for the Bulls and Celtics reigns supreme.

Basketball purgatory is so much fun. Can’t wait for Haliburton to leave as soon as his contract is up.

I always kind of liked the Pacers too. In general, hoops is better if Indiana’s team is really good. Their fans can be crazy (not Artest crazy).

Why is the recruit not named I wonder?

You could understand the potential backlash, no?

That said…it’s speculated to be their 5 star QB recruit (who isn’t committed yet, which would be an even better reason though maybe also means it’s not him)

Based on the article it wouldn’t be a surprise if it’s someone that hasn’t committed yet. The whole thing seemed sketch and the lawyer they talked to implied he would never have his client sign that type of contract

I’ve always liked the Pistons. The brawl happening between the two was so depressing to watch.

Will Wade is done

Wow. What happened? LSU didn’t care about the FBI investigation and let him keep coaching so what changed?

Juwan should hire him as defensive coordinator

He should switch offensive coordinator to defensive coordinator and back again every other year.
