Cole Huff won't visit Michigan

Nevada transfer Cole Huff won’t visit Michigan. Plans to visit Iowa then make a decision, per his AAU coach.

That means Michigan is pretty much wrapped up with 2014 recruiting. Six man class and onto 2015. I would think they would shoot for a 3 man class in 2015 as things stand now.

With one scholarship spot open, maybe Dakich or Lonergan can get a one year scholarship like Eso Akunne a few years ago

2015 2g Kevaughn Allen just committed to Florida. Grandstaff cant be too happy about that. or maybe he doesn’t care b/c he knows Michigan is the place to be. I hope he visits soon. He is visiting Ohio St this weekend. Says will visit Ohio St, Florida, Oregon and Michigan.

what happened with Huff? Did we cool after Hawkins committed? I mean, Coach Vall was just out to talk with him and the minutes are there for the taking…

My guess is that they feel pretty good with a group of studs from both 2015 & 2016…and want to have room for these studs…

Dawkins committed, focusing more on '15 and '16 classes.

Not a lot of minutes at the four with Chatman/Wilson either, potentially. LaVall was out there before the Dawkins commit and Beilein never visited AFAIK.

Huff definitely could have contributed, but by next year Chatman and Wilson may be very competitive with Huff’s potential PT(though currently unproven). I agree that a 3 man class seems like a reasonable goal to shoot for. This last scholly won’t affect the depth chart this season unless they picked up a big for depth at the 5.

Give me Coleman!

This makes sense considering we have two top 100 recruits (Chatman and Wilson) that will be Sophomores when Huff is eligible and there would be the potential for a logjam at the “3” and “4.” And considering he left Nevada to get more time at the 3, he might have been unhappy if our current recruits develop at a rate that would have left less minutes.

Booooo…

Fine with me. I just hope he picks the Jays and not the Hawkeyes.

I think he’ll probably go to Iowa. By the time he’s able to play, Aaron White will have graduated and then he just pick up where White left off.

interesting. I mean, we already had Chatman/Wilson so I thought he was being considered for the 3 spot.

Maybe he actually did some research on UM and realized he would probably be slotted at the 4 if he came here? At 6’8", it’s hard to see Chatman at the 4, while Huff would play at the 3. When someone transfers and specifies playing as a 3 the main reason why they left, it would only make sense that our system could have rubbed him the wrong way.

I think it’s more that Michigan was happy with what it had in the class and was ready to move on to future classes.

So you think we told him we were no longer interested? He isn’t going to take a visit to Dayton either, so it kind of threw me off.

I know this is pretty much no longer relevant since we know he’s not coming here, but mlive talked to Cole last night and he said it was purely his decision to stop pursuing Michigan and that we were still trying to get him on campus. He said with all our length on the perimeter it would’ve been high risk, high reward and he didn’t want to have the chance that he may not be able to play.

He also said Beilein also didn’t answer his call and he hadn’t heard from Michigan since early in the week …

He just committed to Creighton.

Sweet! Good Luck to him there.
