Got lucky they attacked Smith on defense and they missed a bunny at the rim.
Juwan getting schooled so far. Leaves Davis in against Maryland’s stretch 5, gives up three straight 3s. Finally puts Johns in just in time for Maryland to bring in their only true big.
Have we given up 40 in a half this season?
No movement by players on offense right now. Almost like players are waiting for a pass before moving. With the ball sticking, the offense is kaput!
People talk about it’s fine to play 7-8 guys and it’s fine if you have that type of roster but with this roster as constructed they need 9-10 guys that can play because Davis isn’t providing much and they are too small in the backcourt.
Id really like for Chaundess/Franz to get the Ayala matchup. He’s their engine. Same reason they put Morsell on Smith

It’s not just against 5 out teams, the on off splits with Davis are horrible
We had this exact same back court against Maryland in the first two games and were fine.

Except for OSU playing against a team with the morale of the German army circa 1944, every team struggled coming out against the team on their second game. I trust Juwan’s second-half coaching and what will be our fresher legs.

Yeah BJJ should be a cutter/dunker primarily, not someone we use for shot-creation scenarios. When our shots stop going in it seems like it feeds on itself and we go stagnant. I understand going to the post to Hunter and even Austin, but feeding down low to BJJ just seems like we’d given up on ball movement.

How does playing 9-10 guys fix Davis not producing and the lack of size? I think they need to play 6 guys a ton of minutes (plus some Johns when the matchup is appropriate)

Scheme is more important to Defense, even with Austin out there. Gotta stay in Man, pressure the 3 point shooters, force them to help.
