Is there an option on the board in regards to a transfer that can either create mismatches on the offensive side of the ball or shut someone down on the defensive side of the ball?
He’s not officially transferring yet, but some CBB reporter stated that he could graduate this summer and then transfer immediately. Which he’s only going to know if the kid has told him that he could graduate, because this is only his third year on campus. So, he’s gonna be looking to transfer. He very well could just follow his old coach to Vandy though.
That might literally be the worst offensive lineup we could possibly put out without it being the benchwarmers. With MAAR on the bench there are zero shot creators, not to mention a downgrade defensively. There is absolutely no reason to push him to the bench. Did you watch the end of our season where he was our only consistent offense?
I would rather Spike or a grad transfer than a 2016 project too, and then go after some better '17 recruits who should see a pretty clear path to playing time. And it would keep the option open to bring back Donnal for a fifth year. But I wouldn’t expect too much from Spike if he comes back.
They are speculating.
Who says anyone is speculating?
Maybe Id find this if I scrolled through some threads, but: Are there any realistic 2016 recruits that are still on the board? It seems like, now, we need to bring in someone who can immediately provide 10-15 minutes of wing play. Grad transfer seems like the more likely solution, but just wondering about the pool of 2016 kids who we could pursue really hard down the stretch.
I say some of the posters are speculating.
If Alec Peters transfers, he is a perfect 4 for John Beilein. He is currently testing out the NBA, doing the combine. He will most likely return to college. Obviously Vanderbilt is in play because his coach went their but Michigan is the perfect fit. Also the competition is significantly better in the Big 10 than the SEC.
Just have to hope it’s one of those things that makes a ton of sense, and actually happens. It always seems like there’s a bunch of big-name recruits that make perfect sense, and dont materialize
Anybody know what time JB’s presser is today, will definitely be listening to that.
Need someone to ask if he expects anymore attrition. The way he answers that will be telling.
That statement leads me to believe there were some end of the season meetings that were very straight forward for lack of a better term.
… it almost sounds as if more attrition IS coming but they’re just not ready to announce it yet.
Why yes, I did watch the end of the season. In fact, I watched every game. MAAR is the best player on the team at driving to the hoop, but that in itself does not mean that he has to start. Robinson is the best three point shooter, but it doesn’t guarantee him a starting spot. There are options.
Would not be surprised seems very close to stay tuned… So here we are at three players (maybe more to come) who have decided to move along in regards to their playing careers. Does this change the way many here think about the Coach? And if so do you like him more? Or less?
I see it as a pretty good size stumble but hope he has learned in the process.
I like JB a lot more than I did 2 weeks ago. I think he’s making very difficult decisions at the moment but they are necessary ones to improve the program.
I questioned whether or not he had this in him all season.
Now the question is does he have the ability to quick fix the roster with just a couple of months of work left.
What’s ironic is that Thad Matta was called out last week for all of his transfers and now JB is headed down the same path. Both coaches know they need to upgrade their roster. Both coaches are taking similar approaches in doing so.
So an updated B1G transfer list:
Michigan St: Bess, Clark
Michigan: Spike, Doyle, Dawkins
Purdue: Weatherford
Ohio St: Giddens, Harris, Mitchell
