Now he’s got a former Buckeye blocking that possiblity.
Or does he? Sounds like the Warriors are expected to flip Russell and he’s not perceived as a fit.
Its actually funny to me - when a couple NBA followers asked about J. Poole’s game following the draft the first comparison I made was to DLo.
Possibly. Might make sense to keep him until the trade deadline to help fill in for Klay being out and then flip him for assets.
Yes, I’m with you on this. Given their depleted depth at the 2, unless you have a relative certainty to plug in via a subsequent trade, I’m at least seeing what that bird in the hand can do. I know Russell can be a more ball-dominant guard than may be optimal for their offense, but he’s at least established himself as a bona fide scorer in the league now. Their roster suddenly looks starved for bucket-getters, as weird as it feels to say about GS.
Pretty sure they’d have to keep him that long. Can’t trrade a free agent until a couple months into the season I believe.
You folks may know better than I, but is it really plausible that Poole steps in as a 20-year-old rookie and fills that kind of role? I would be surprised.
It would seem unlikely that this would happen unless Poole was REALLY held back here. I definitely think he’ll be fine in the league but there will be a learning curve/physical adjustment.
Also, I meant as a ceiling if that wasn’t clear. Just think style of play may be similar.
JP has a good chance to get minutes but he’ll have to play defense and gain some weight. He’s still young with los of room to grow.
And also, it’s worth pointing out “fit” becomes a much bigger issue when you have to shell out $30 million a year for Russell. The Warriors would gladly take anyone with Russell’s skill set at a rookie contract price.
Slightly off-topic, but pro-Michigan and a strong B1G representation in the Top-20.
Is Twitter down for anyone else
I’m getting an error too.
Yep, saw on the news there’s a system-wide error Twitter is trying to explore.
I enjoy watching NW struggle so much. I think it’s cause everyone started praising Collins for being a great coach because he got them to the tournament once, when I felt like he was clearly mediocre. Our old friend Pete Nance is gonna get a lot of minutes this year.
I agree that Chris Collins is as mediocre as mediocre gets. When people started pushing him as an eventual JB successor I almost choked from laughing and crying. Normally I’d silently root for Northwestern as the scrappy upstart but with Collins as their coach, getting slapped back to Earth the past two years didn’t make me weep for them.
Plus the whole barking like a dog thing this year
The Collins extension blows my mind. I don’t even know how hot his seat is because of it.
