Big Ten Basketball 2021-22 Discussion

Especially irritating, since if either team played like that against us in our last 2 games against them, we’re 2-0 in those games.

So Rutger’s gets the double bye in the BIG tournament, and are not assured a NCAA bid. That seems crazy to me given all the top end BIG teams they’ve beaten this season.

I think I saw that this happened in 2017 (top 4 BIG team did not make NCAA).

Pretty sure Nebraska was the four seed in 2018 Big Ten Tournament and missed the big dance after losing to five seed Michigan on quarterfinal Friday.

With unbalanced schedules and tiebreakers, seeding isn’t always the most important thing.

Just a worst case scenario for us

I get that. It’s just that I’ve watched Rutger’s play, and beat, some really good teams this year in the BIG ten. It’s hard for me to justify the team I’ve seen play, with a team that is a seeming consensus bubble team.

I suppose I’ve only watched their games against better teams, and missed some of their poorer performances against lesser teams. But still…

I mean, Rutgers is probably going to make the field because of those good wins. They are on the bubble because of so many bad losses.

Well, the worst-case would have been for us to lose today and need 2 BTT wins to get a tourney bid. That thankfully didn’t happen.

All that matters for sure! :blue_heart:

Mich has zero chance against Illinois. Kofi>>Hunter and Diabate is constantly lost on D against SFs.

I wouldn’t say zero. It is not Michigan’s best matchup, but I wouldn’t say it was unwinnable. Illinois is prone to clunkers. They didn’t play terribly well tonight. A bottom feeder almost picked them off the other night.

Fair. But Mich has already beaten all the other teams ranked above us in that chart.

I feel like as long as we beat Indiana we’re in a good spot and can make it comfortably as an 11 seed ready to score an upset.

Also, teams often shoot poorly in their first BTT game. We would we playing our second game and would be already acclimated to the arena.

But first we’ve got to beat IU.

Nebraska had one quality win against the top-half of the Big Ten, and that was the main reason why they missed out on the big dance. Their non-conference schedule didn’t help matters.

No clue why people were celebrating wisconsin losing.

Certainly I would rather play them than Illinois should we beat Indiana. However…we were celebrating Wisconsin losing because

I think most Rutgers fans are feeling pretty safe now that the possibility of another bad loss is mostly off the table. A neutral loss to Iowa isn’t enough to boot them out of the field unless things like Georgetown and Oregon State winning their conference tournaments happens again.
