There’s about 15-20 Rutgers football fans out there who are very happy to hear about this.

I honestly wouldn’t mind. Playing Kansas every year would be fine with me. As far as the “dirty school” narrative is concerned, they all are. College sports is a dirty business. Everyone has dirt on their hands. Including Michigan. That might be unpopular but it’s the truth. Bringing in Kansas might convince someone else to come too. West Virginia would be okay. That would be a good proximity game with Penn state and Ohio state. May even become a rivalry. Maybe they would be able to win more than one football game against them in 20 years.

Edit: I’m talking about Kansas basketball. No respect for their football program. I also understand that Michigan is far better than most. They are the shining example but nowhere near guilt free.

Anything that adds more visibility to B1G hoops, I’m shamelessly all for.

WVU is extremely unlikely for various reasons. If Kansas joins, I’d bet on Iowa State also joining. But I also think select Pac 12 schools (USC, Washington, Oregon, Stanford) are a higher priority.

If USC joins, surely UCLA would as well.

My understanding there is the California Regents may require Cal goes along with them, and that may scuttle the deal for UCLA. This is all highly fluid, though.

I agree. There are better schools. I’m not versed in the ins and outs of West Virginia. I was thinking of Big 12 schools but that was the extent of my examination of the possible candidates. I would certainly rather have Oregon. I wouldn’t be mad at Iowa state either. For similar proximity reasons. Michigan isn’t the only school in the big ten and unfortunately they are smack dab in the middle.

Surely lower on the priority list, but I’d be a fan of Colorado joining. Maybe more attainable than some other schools especially if Nebraska and Kansas are in the conference.

Colorado would certainly make for some nice road trips! Boulder is a pretty cool town to visit!

Yeah, I like reinforcing / restoring old rivalries, and while doing so for Nebraska wouldn’t be a priority per se, it would be a positive.

I like Colorado more than any of the other B12 castoffs

Wouldn’t it be great if the NCAA got ahead of the issue, got creative and, you know, did some good. Let them spin off into a super (Southern plus OSU) G-League. Then remake the college game. Oh, and they can’t come back for basketball.

College sports are always flexible. Not all sports needs to align with major conferences, College hockey always have their own alignments. Rodeo and lightweight rowing, both having a healthy number of member schools, are not part of NCAA. What make college football different is that it is the bread and butter.

Reminder that Kansas is rotten and shouldn’t be rewarded for it:
