Big Ten Basketball 2021-22 Discussion

The funniest outcome is that Kofi chooses Florida State on Friday. But I’m guessing that train has sailed

Hearing Kofi back to ILL is pretty much a done deal

Not sure where else to put this, Eli players trunk deal. Is this the first member of the men’s team to take advantage of NIL?

Eli needs to sell the Rip Hamilton mask.

Autographed too? Sweet!

If Cockburn is coming back, why all the suspense? Why not just do the standard “I’m happy to be coming back” social media thing?

Because he’s a kid. At that age I’d probably try schedule a parade in my hometown just to let them know I’m returning to the same school I’ve been at.

Looks like Isaiah Ihnen, one of two returners from the Pitino era (Eric Curry announced he was coming back a few weeks ago) is out for the year with a knee injury.

In other news, the fan wearing the cow uniform at the Barn has become a preferred walk-on.

He was a fifth guy last year and decided not to return. The pig is a possibility though.

Dang, Kofi back. Nice offseason for Illinois… somehow. Oh well, looks like we gotta deal with that BRUTAL fanbase yet again!!

Hunter needs to start practicing that Cameron Krutwig high-post hand-off play.

What a strange, strange path Kofi took to end up at the same place he started. Very weird.

They ran so much from that starting point. Beautiful basketball…

Kofi is now Illinois savior. Bumped up his NIL value!

Interesting commitment as he’s the definition of a boom or bust prospect. Nebraska fans’ Reddit reaction has been especially interesting… acting like it’s a bona fide 5 star commitment. Which is strange to me because they have a legitimate one this class so it’s not like they don’t know what it’s like lol.

Didn’t know what thread would be best, but found this to be interesting regarding the “Juwan” vs. “Coach Howard” press conference discussion that went down last year

That’s funny, I was actually thinking recently about what the answer to that was. We, as humans, tend to call people by their more ‘unique’ name. Stu was Stu, Novak was Novak. Burke was Burke, Mo was Mo. Dug will be Dug, LeVert was LeVert. Beilein was Beilein, Amaker was Amaker. You know what I mean? Not sure exactly what to do with the article as I would lean towards “Sanders” actually and I’m not sure where the media fits in, but I certainly remember many a “Johns” when Beilein was coach here from the press.

But, to rehash two conversations, let’s all just be safe and go with HCJH.

Didn’t John Beilein specifically prefer to be called John or something like that? I asked him a question at a presser once and said “Coach Beilein” or “coach” or something like that and it seemed to go fine, but I remember some debate about how to refer to him. Was it Dylan who said that calling Beilein “coach” felt weird since we aren’t players on Beilein’s team??
