this Giorgi performance is one of those out-of-nowhere bonuses that you really don’t want to waste
Ayo Dosunmu and Kofi Cockburn are 2-10 from the floor right now combined and Illinois is tied with the #2 team in the country. I’m having a hard time processing this.
The No. 2 team in the country can’t make a layup… b/c Giorgi is protecting the rim? That’s the hard thing to process.
Baylor is just crushing Illinois on the offensive glass in the second half.
They were certainly undervalued in the preseason poll. Honestly I think it’ll be a pretty close race at the top of the league, don’t really see teams pulling away. I still feel pretty good about Wisconsin too.
Iowa is going to win it
oops they wasted it
Now that’s funny.
The impact of COVID on officials is interesting. This season, those who believe that there are exclusive “Big Ten officials” might actually be correct…
…the Big Ten is hoping to lock down roughly 18 officials for the conference season, sources confirmed to ESPN. Those officials would be tested daily and exclusively work Big Ten games. There would also be an alternate fourth official in case one of the three scheduled officials has to miss a game at the last minute due to COVID-19.
Correct. That’s the plan in the Big Ten for conference season I believe. Goodman had an article about it recently.
Hey Dylan, off the ref subject but on the Big Ten–it might be fun to see you and your counterpart from Inside the Hall do periodic updates on the top 25 players in the conference. There would already be some movers in and out of the top 25–Towns hasn’t played (and there’s no indication when or if he will), Landers isn’t doing much, Hunter Dickinson has been very good, etc.
Mid-season power rankings update, sure. Agreed!
That would give you a chance to ruminate (Dylan) about how your previous–or new–Top 25 may fare once they get into conference play.
Looks like (for example) Dickinson has more stamina than many of us had assumed. But as the season and Big Ten play grind on?
On the same note, it was interesting to hear the announcers last night saying that the B1G had pretty much re-loaded with strong centers. I thought that the consensus was that they had all graduated and that Dickinson might have an easier time b/c of it?
It’s honestly really impressive how much the rest of Iowa’s players buy in to feeding Garza. There’s been about six times a guy has passed up a really open look for an even better look and Garza has been the recipient.
He has 30 and 9 right now and has taken half their shots.
First half? I’m wondering who will stop him this year.
Not Western Illinois
Bingo, me too.
