I absolutely agree with Gard. If college basketball’s future is a bunch of Brad Davisons we’re all in big trouble
Brooks’ injury analyzed from afar by a doctor. This is probably the best we have until Friday .
Does anyone know what ankle he injured earlier in the year?
Interesting. Good to know at least that it isn’t the dreaded high ankle sprain.
I’ll take any content I can get, but FanDuel has money and apparently did not spend any of it hiring adults who know about broadcasting or sentences.
As someone who has sprained my ankle dozens of times- this generally seems true.
In reality I think it’s more complicated than that if he couldn’t put any weight on it immediately and was in a boot. If I sprain my ankle now it hurts for 15 minutes and then is sore the next day. I’m not anything close to a college athlete and he twisted pretty far but if he couldn’t put weight on it, I’m pretty concerned. I predict lots of ice baths in his near future.
I might be being optimistic. But I don’t think he actually couldn’t put any weight on it. I think Howard just picked him up because that’s what he does. I’m not sure it was actually necessary.
A few minutes later Brooks walked from the bench to the locker room, part of which was shown on tv.
Also when this initially happens your may kind of go into a “shock” of some sort and he may of not wanted to put any weight on it out of fear. A few minutes later when that wears off, he’s able to walk off. Doesn’t mean it’s not significant, but it’s also reason to believe it’s not as bad as it looked.
I must have missed him coming back out. Just saw him sitting on the bench. That’s very reassuring.
If it was a first sprain that would be pretty tough. I certainly remember my first sprain and I didn’t put much of any weight on it til the next day after icing.
I assume the boot was just a precaution until they could get home and do some testing.
Out of curiosity, what does a walking boot feel like to walk in? Is it all gel in there? When you walk in one I assume it still puts a little pressure on the foot.
Any bad sprain is going to leave you unable to walk immediately after. He should be ok by the NCAAs. The boot is precautionary. It is standard procedure now for any serious sprain.
Minnesota tanking for Trevor. Good grief
Please post to state of Illinois.
I think that graphic makes a pretty strong case that Illinois fans deserve to be incredibly pissed about how things ended up. The two teams are basically equal.
If the situation were flipped, I’d estimate the reaction would be even stronger.
I’ve made my case. The criterion was win percentage. Had we played them right after our break, there would have been an asterisk on their win–so they got that. Had we played the other (missed) games we would have been further out in the win column. A regular season championship is about the regular season, not whether one team or another is better at the end of it.
I have no problem with accepting the possibility that they’re the better team right now, or may prove it in the B1G tourney. That’s a horse of a different feather.
And–yeah–the two teams are statistically close. And–yeah–the controversy is fun. We won.
Yeah, of course… Michigan won because the criteria was established. That’s the rules.
It’s still an incredibly raw deal for Illinois. There’s no guarantee Michigan goes 3-0 in those other games.
Incredibly pissed??? I get being annoyed or upset, but incredibly pissed seems excessive unless you think Michigan would have lost one of the three games that weren’t made up. If you think they would go 3-0, who cares how close the efficiency stats are. Big Ten is decided based on wins/losses, not efficiency numbers. Just because UM and IL are both good teams with similar efficiency numbers and likely will both be one seeds doesn’t mean that entitles them to a Big Ten Championship.
I don’t care if there was a split championship, but incredibly pissed implies you think that if the schedule were completed, IL would have at least ended up tied.
I’m not saying it is because of the EM margin stats… Just that any fanbase in Illinois’ position would be irate.
Teams lose games trying to close a championship out all the time. It is a break for Michigan to not play those games, regardless of why they weren’t played.
