I hope Sparty #1 is your joking around.
I never joke.
I’ll bet you 20 bucks he IS joking around! Oh, wait a minute, I don’t have $20, Big Boutros has my $20!
I was wondering how on Earth it was possible for him to play 157 games in four years, but then I looked it up and saw that he played seven one year and got a medical redshirt. (150 in four years is still a lot though.)
Are we going to need asterisks for all the broken records next year?
you can get around 40 in a normal season if your team goes deep in conference and NCAA tourneys, but 150 needs a lot of deep tourney runs.
Theres just so much going on, I have no idea how good these big ten teams are about to look. I guess for Illinois a lot of it hinges on Kofi.
Sounds like Chin Coleman may stay at Illinois as well. Not an A+ offseason but could have been a lot worse for them:
Kentucky boards still think they are getting both Antigua and Coleman FWIW.
Sounds like Antigua is confirmed to Kentucky. Illinois boards are steamed because apparently he actually accepted a paycut, not a raise. He turned down Whitman’s offer to be the highest-paid assistant in the country. I know he has a long relationship with Cal but that would send a pretty painful message about the status of the Illinois program, especially if Chin Coleman does the same thing.
I don’t know who any of these people are. I just want Brad Underwood to feel bad.
Orlando Antigua and Chin Coleman are the top assistants at Illinois. Antigua has a niche recruiting Puerto Rico and the Caribbean (although he is elite recruiting anywhere) and Coleman is a Chicago specialist. Both are likely headed to Kentucky. Antigua has a preexisting relationship with Calipari but Coleman does not. At first the rumor was a pair of Godfather offers, making them the highest-paid assistants in the country. But now it sounds like they would rather just coach at Kentucky and the Illinois boards are fuming.
Why did Antigua leave in the first place?
He was fired as the head coach of South Florida in 2017 and signed on with Illinois. Maybe Cal didn’t offer him to come back at that time?
That’s a delightful little slight. It’s almost enough to make me wish Illinois were our rival. Alas they are not, and will have to be content with being mostly ignored by me.
Yep, Kentucky fans are really fired up about it. They say they’re getting Chin, too, and they hope to know yet today. We’ll see. Kentucky and their fans have about as much use for Illinois and their fans as we do!
Illini already believes we are rivals .
I’m sorry? Who does?
Illinois is not our rival, but it is a fanbase whose meltdowns we periodically enjoy.
