Big Ten Basketball 2020-21 Discussion (Part 2)

Correct, it’s not a perfect list as it’s operating with some assumptions (seniors not returning, guys expected to go pro). It does have all announcers incoming transfers so that’s why you see Maryland where they are.

Honestly don’t think they’re that talented. Xavier Johnson and Trayce are pretty nice, but the rest of the roster is a bunch of “just guys” unless Lander makes a jump.

Yeah… am I missing all of the talent? Who is IU’s second best player?

They should be good enough to make the NCAA tournament and running better offense will help but I’m not crazy about the roster.

kturnup and Cursed were talking about Memphis I believe

He’s talking about Memphis

Woops, my bad

but my answer to this would be Xavier Johnson, I think

Ah. Those games were even harder to watch than IU games.

Yup, I’m not buying a 100 spot jump for them in AdjO

So are we on the same page re-Memphis? I think they’ve been much more talented under Hardaway than their advanced metric results have been.

The 100 spot jump I referred to was from 2020 to 2021. I don’t think that’s happening again, if I made it seem like that.

I’m sorry, I’m making this thread too confusing apparently lol.

Yeah, I mean I don’t watch much Memphis basketball but their talent seems to manifest itself on defense. I’m not sure how many great offensive players they have and then playing in a crappy offensive system doesn’t help.

Oh yeah I know. But Torvik has them projected as a top 15 offense(!!!) which is what I was talking about

Ahhhhh. Gotcha. Yeah, unless Hardaway completely gives his offense to some new assistant (when does that actually happen?) I don’t see it. I don’t see top 50 under him unless they get a mega star guard/wing who can just pick and roll their offense to… decency I guess.

it’s not embedding but Giorgi B is declaring for the draft.

The military draft? Can’t think of any other draft he’d be a part of

Illinois fans are not surprised. They think he is going to Europe and Payne is his replacement, not Kofi’s (bc Kofi is returning)

After this Giorgi move I’ve decided to add Kofi back into the depth chart on my sheet

+Kofi, -Giorgi on RosterCast puts Illinois at 20th

I just don’t see it with MSU unless Christie and Akins are phenomenal in their first year which could happen but they still have roster problem. They addressed it with PG transfer but we really don’t know how well he’ll play in the B1G schedule and the C position is still a mess. The best path they can hope is Sissoko, Marble and/or Bingham improve to be at least a threat on offense. Marble and Bingham are who they are at this point. Sissoko has a plausible path of improvement. They’ll lose Henry and still don’t have any credible shooting threat from the wing/guard. Christie and Akins would be their best shooter but they’re freshmen.
