I’d have to double check though and those rankings probably mean nothing lol. Will be interesting tos ee what MSU fans say about it
Tbh, I feel like if an assistant is at a place for 10 years and it’s not an obvious coach-in-waiting situation then that assistant is probably easily replacable.
Hey I could be completely wrong. I fire my takes from the hip and see where they hit later. I’m a gunslinger
I love that
Eh…Fife wasn’t the one putting those two into meaningful rotation minutes most of the year despite evidence that they should have been in the bench mob.
Wow thanks. That’s amazing. a ton of really weak looking teams. Obviously a lot of room for transfers.
The thing with MSU is that he and Stephens have been around forever. Stephens has Fife beat on tenure and age. So easy to see why Fife would think IU could have better upward mobility. I’m of the opinion that no assistant coach is that irreplaceable.
Interesting. Obviously MSU is a well run program so hiring from within makes sense on that end. But I feel like when you’ve had that much continuity and are coming off a disappointing year, bringing in a new, outside voice could be a good thing. This would have been the perfect time for that.
Where? Loyer is going to get a medical hardship and try and loiter to be a coach
Yeah it makes sense as a move. I just think generally if you’re an assistant at a P5 team for 10 years, there’s a very high chance that you’re not attractive as a HC candidate. Which says something. As a general rule.
Yeah we will see where this heads but I would strike to get some “fresh blood” in there if I were Izzo.
First take: I really want to fight you. Your Maryland take is crazy optimistic.
But then I look at the other rosters and yeah - Ayala Wiggins and Scott just finished 7th (?) in the conference, which ain’t great - but not many teams look better than them.
It’s difficult to understate how bad all the other B10 rosters look like right now.
Is Wiggins coming back ?
This is going to be a fascinating storyline to follow as the portal roller coaster sorts itself out. We could probably have an interesting stock-up / stock-down chart for all the teams that we follow all off-season. Right now you’d probably say MSU and IU have their stock-up based on the players they’re bringing in (MSU) or keeping (IU).
Meanwhile, there could be some team that jumps into contention out of nowhere based on picking up 3 impact transfers. If I’m at PSU, NW, NEB then I’m calling most of these guys to see if they’ll come into my program.
Did you mean loiter or lobby? Both make sense.
Either of those would be really weird choices. Wojcik was fired from Charleston with cause for abusing his players and Thomas has never been a coach. He owned a car wash before the MSU women’s coach hired him as Director of Ops
Loiter. He doesn’t really have to lobby given who is dad is but if he hangs around enough it will pan out
IIRC this is also Wojcik’s third stint at MSU. And Thomas played there. Very internal choices
