Big Ten Basketball 2020-21 Discussion (Part 2)

Certainly agree Ladder, he can back up his recruiting accomplishments with cash. His NBA players have made in excess of $250M and counting. He will be all in on the top 150 players who fit his system and can shoot the three.

If IU wants him and Beilein wants IU, we’ll wish him all the luck in the world, with the exception of 1-3 random game days during the season.

I remember some people complaining about JB being hired and thought they were nuts. He had just led WVU to deep NCAA runs, so why not at Michigan? Plus, his teams were fun to watch. I guess some people just like to complain.

Indiana’s AD, not Beilein, would be responsible for figuring out the succession plan.

A post was merged into an existing topic: Givony: Juwan Howard will have NBA interest

What’s not to believe? He’s definitely going to be in high demand from the NBA. He’s just going to tell them all to f off…

I wonder if any Minnesota guys follow Pitino to New Mexico.

Those walk-ons and managers work hard. I had one from the women’s team as a student. They get the benefit of being able to choose classes sooner but it’s a lot to do on top of a full class schedule.

IU fans prefer mike Woodson to beilein and I thought Michigan had “Michigan Man” issues

Woodson’s had a weird career path. Not that often an NBA head coach (with some degree of success) goes back to being an assistant coach. The fact that he hasn’t been a head coach since 2014 would seem like a red flag. Usually these guys get recycled into new head jobs after awhile.

(Also: that he’s been out of the college game for 40 years.)

Poor John Beilein. Deserves better.

Many of them want to find their Juwan Howard.

Feel pretty confident Mike Woodson is not their Juwan Howard.

lol at IU fans thinking Mike Woodson would be their answer. Keep these screenshots coming, it’s the cheapest comedy show ever.

aren’t Woodson and Beilein the same age?

Looks like there’s a 6 year difference, but yeah, Woodson isn’t exactly young for a coach either.

The Juwan hire is going to throw off a lot of expectations - can’t just hire an alum and expect it’s going to go this well.

And I think people miss that Juwan wasn’t just any NBA guy, he was a product of the Pat Riley/Erik Spoelstra coaching tree. He learned from some of the best.

If IU can find a guy that was groomed by say, Popovich, then maybe it’s comparable.

I saw an SI article that suggested Keith Smart would be IU’s Juwan Howard. I haven’t seen Keith Smart mentioned in any of the other lists of potential replacements, so this may be just one guy’s opinion.

have they mentioned Isiah Thomas yet?
