I know Curbelo isn’t really an off ball guard, but him being on the floor takes the ball out of Ayo’s hands. Seems like a problem in a game like this.
Cockburn just got called for a goaltend because he tried to swat what was going to be an airball 2 by Ahrens
Illinois has a team of bigs and guards, with only Ayo, who is really a guard in the middle height range. OSU, like Maryland, is a team of guys in the mid-range. Illinois seems to struggle with that type of team (see also Rutgers). Part of it is that Cockburn hasn’t learned to pass out of a double team; part is that OSU is physically overpowering Illinois with its athletes.
I don’t understand why these networks keep trying to show different camera angles. Those should only be used on replays when we need a different angle to see a foul or who the ball went out off of.
Since Bardo isn’t calling this game, does that mean we’re gonna be stuck with him?
Our game’s on ESPN2, we have Dakich
Think the common thought was that Chaundee was going to Illinois until Michigan swooped in. They sure could use a guy like him to guard wings.
Illinois leaving four points off the board with missing 1-and-1s plus a few more with missed layups. Difference between striking distance and a blowout
What a relief smh.
Despite still being down 13, it really feels like Illinois can get back into this one if it cleans up its defensive rotations and stops taking questionable shots (plus starts making a few more threes).
*This post was before OSU made it 15
Kofi playing Garza level defense today
Agreed, OSU left more sustainable points on the table with some blown bunnies
It did feel like Illinois climbed back to an extent…but they only cut 4 off the lead
The only positive for Illinois is that you have 3 on Ahrens, 2 on Young and 2 on Liddell.
OSU definitely looks better than I thought, but I also think it may be time to start selling on Illinois as a contender. They destroyed Minnesota and had one phenomenal half against NW. Have they done anything else in B1G play to make anyone think they’re with Michigan/Iowa?
Feeling good about my live Illinois ML +575 ticket
when you put up more Other Twos than any other shot you are in for a rough morning
I’m also suddenly reminded that they required a furious comeback at home against Ohio.
Haven’t been watching but Liddel is 3-4 from 3? He was 3-18 coming in.
Lol and now he’s draining step backs
