Big Ten Basketball 2020-21 Discussion (Part 1)

4 shots for MSU so far, 3 are mid range jumpers for Langford. Not a great sign for the quality of offense in this game so far.

Watching Edey easily score on Sissoko who puts up no fight… I’ve waited my entire life for Hunter Dickinson to crush MSU down low. It’s going to be so satisfying.

Seven minutes in and neither side has scored more than seven points–yuck. I really believe that Tom Izzo has some secret and terrifying grip on M fans’ souls; that is not a good team. And maybe it goes without saying that Purdue is not either!

MSU’s offense so far has been Langford mid range shots and Watts floaters. If those shots fall all night MSU will win easy…but I doubt that’s any sort of sustainable offense.

On the plus side for them only 2 TOs so far after the Rutgers debacle.

Purdue’s inability to hit any shots on the road is something else

I think maybe Purdue is the stink I thought Indiana was.

So, what’s the improvement in MSU’s defense chalked up to? Is it really just effort?

Effort, perimeter players playing up to their potential, and playing Rutgers and Purdue.

but the Rutgers offense was really good going into their MSU game.

They had a lot of communication/mental errors earlier. Probably have cleaned those up. I can buy MSU being a very good defensive team now, but their offense is not good. Tonight it’s 90% mid range jumpers

You often hear about certain players being like a coach on the court. With Tom Izzo, it really is like having a coach on the court. It’s fantastic.

True, but in that game Rutgers barely ran any offense. They just decided to iso all game, and multiple times iso on Aaron Henry of all people. The fact that they held up is credit to their defensive improvement, but that game also spoke to Rutgers playing terrible offense.

I know it was always too much to hope for, it’s just a bummer that we couldn’t see a colossal season-long meltdown. Guys transferring midseason, Izzo punching a ref, 16-game losing streak, etc

Jaden Ivey takeover

Trevion justifiably pissed that Gillis made the cut with no intention of ever getting the ball. Wasted a beautiful pass with that fumble

He’s going after Aaron Henry too, and beating him

This is repulsive. Reminds me of our game at South Carolina in 2016.

Honestly I’m looking forward to the media getting on the MSU bandwagon. Will make it funnier when they go on another losing streak.

hot take: MSU is back in the B1G title race
