Rocket just… hasn’t been good at all this season. The injury last year slowed him down and helped him see the floor better on the sideline for a few weeks. He hasn’t had the opportunity to just observe. He just goes a million miles an hour all the time.
Henry now how has 7 turnovers of MSU’s 12.
Also after a really good first half, Watts is 0-4 this half with 1 assist.
No one tell BQ, but I’ve been slowly buying into the Hauser hype. How he isn’t getting my 30min a game is mind boggling to me.
That was the most bizarre and terrible place to put a commercial
Brad Davison remains the worst
I’m very proud whenever my girlfriend pops in to watch for a bit she just refers to him as, “the annoying guy.”
Winning play by Davison running Hauser off the three point line
So in summary, MSU’s defense is still bad and they were able to keep up with Wisconsin offensively because of a huge performance by Joey Hauser. Watts and Henry still bad.
If anyone needs the see through mask, it is NOT Trice’s Mom.
I’m assuming you have Hunter guard Reevers-Roovers when they’re both in the game?
Watts 1-7 from two; Langford 1-6 from two; Henry 5-12 from two. That is 7-25 as a trio. Ouch. Lot of bad shots from them young fellas. I don’t remember a dunk for MSU
Now Sparty goes on the road for two starting with Minn.
Fouls: MSU 26, Wisconsin 16.
Loving this neutral court dynamic we have now. Refs aren’t being berated into submission by angry mobs.
Except it often felt like Michigan got a neutral-at-best whistle at Crisler with fans. We shall see going forward!
For sure. Michigan is not one of the beneficiaries of the intimidation, despite having people in the stands who claim “rage” as part of their identity.
“The Maize Mild Irritation,” though more accurate, is too long for a T-shirt.
Had Wisconsin ML anyway so scratched out a winning day. The rare time you’ll hear me root for the Badgers!
MSU just has no margin for error this year. There is a path to them being a good team that could make a run in March, but that likely requires Hauser, Rocket and Henry to all be consistently good producers offensively, which just seems like a huge stretch at this point. They have no answers beyond that group, and Langford/Brown/Hall, the next three best players are totally redundant to Rocket/Henry/Hauser.
Reminds me of the early Zak Irvin/Derrick Walton teams. You can see a path to a good team, but they have their own Mark Donnal at center and the rest of the rotation is a bunch of fringe guys that aren’t making sense.
I mentioned in this comment that prior to today, the opposing team’s PG (or guard with the highest AST rate) has had 4 straight good games against MSU and that trend continued today.
- D’Mitrik Trice: 124.6 ORTG on 36.4 USG vs MSU, 113.1 ORTG on 23.6 USG for the season.
My original comment was about Watts as a defender and I don’t think you can attribute this all to him today (I know his 10-0 run was mostly on Langford), but this was an incredibly efficient day for Trice on easily his highest usage of the season. Perimeter defense is a big concern for MSU right now, whether you want to attribute that to specific perimeter defenders or the lack of a good defensive big behind them.
The Maize Rage certainly has an argument that their impact is far less with half of them in the upper bowl, but even the central bleacher section is disorganized, quiet, and rarely intimidating.
