Agreed. I think it was reasonable to have MSU higher in preseason expectations because Izzo is so bankable. You know he’ll have them grinding by March, and Juwan just isn’t that proven yet. But it was clear all along that Michigan had better replacements for its two huge holes than MSU had for its two huge holes. Players that actually play that position were available for Michigan. Izzo doesn’t have that.
To be clear, I’m not writing off Sparty for the conference at all. I’m just looking at greater aspirations and saying there should be better teams out there. Strong agree that Langford is a very limited hard ceiling player.
I was thinking this too - UCF has a top 70 win and a top 25 win - yet are kenpom 94. Obviously only playing 3 games makes a difference (and us blowing them out may be moreso), but that’s a pretty decent outcome for those 3 games according to the eye test. It’s one of those statistical anomalies I suppose.
Edit: Maybe anomaly was too strong of a word - More of a COVID anomaly due to small sample size killing it.
I can’t think of something the big ten needs less this year than Northwestern being good. Straight rock fights every game.
I just hope M doesn’t crumble @ Neb like Sparty did @ NW. However I am confident Juwan will have them ready to play with the help of Austin,Isaiah and Eli leading the pack.
I am predicting a tough loss. Nebraska will have more recent game reps under their belts with a game against Wisconsin on the 22nd. We will be dangerously rusty after such a long layoff.
They also have a few players that just became eligible. Not sure they’ll make a difference but it will be competitive.
Who are the players just getting eligible for Nebraska?
Eduardo Andre and Trevor Lakes are the 2 who are eligible now. Andre is an athletic 6’9” freshman center. Lakes is a 6’ 7” DII transfer from Indianapolis. I don’t think he’s all that athletic but he’s over 40% from 3 and has hit over 235 3’s. Derrick Walker is a transfer from Tennessee that will be eligible after the New Year.
Just chiding of course, but given your MSU/NW pick of State by 20+, I’m on board with this prediction as well.
Iowa -7 vs. Purdue. Purdue had their number last year fwiw
Iowa big. Purdue turns it over a lot, Iowa doesn’t. I can’t imagine Edey will have much of an impact Garza will probably get him in foul trouble asap.
Dylan was all over Purdue +7 on the pod but I just don’t see it.
Purdue might carve them up with dribble penetration and it is hard to see Iowa slowing down Stefanovic. They are just a bad defensive team. They can blow out anybody if their offense is humming, but they can also lose to almost anyone if they shoot poorly.
I think Purdue’s roster is bizarre. I am extremely skeptical long term.
Ugly start in Madison. Should be an interesting scout for UM tonite.
Wisconsin on pace to score 12 points tonight after 1/4 of the game.
Just turned on the game…just realized it was 10 min in hahahah
5/30 combined FG. Dear lord.
COVID has not shut down Mrs. Trice.
